^^ not sure, but this is what they say about their vision.

Meeting at OAF about Oslo in year 2106, where MMW developed a housing project for 2 million homeless Pakistani people along one of the motorways around Oslo.

MMW wanted to throw light on issues like this because they can happen today if Oslo is included in a global situation. The question of how temporary and semi-temporary architecture can work as a tool in an urban change-over has also been a central theme for the project.

MMW have also developed emergency tents for homeless people as a part of the project.

Damn there's a lot of snacks here, never to be built :( But there's also some of them i'm happy that we'll never see.

Just a visionary project which i don't know much about, visualized by MIR Visuals AS.

Proposal together with the new Oslo S project won by Space Group. The building was 48m/13 floors tall, situated next to Traffkanten in Oslo if you know where it is? Sadly they had to cut this building's height, what will be built is not even half as tall as the original.

New Strømsgodset Stadium in Drammen and a 150m tall tower with hotel. It would have been situated in the middle of the river, thats why they designed it as a cruise ship! It was a crazy proposal!

^^ the winner is good. The big difference is that the renderings Snøhetta provide is superior compared to many others, especially, Lund Hagem (architect behind the winning design).

I don't care to much for the library in Snøhettas proposal as much as i love the highrise, and i do like the diagonal street from Lund Hagem, if only it went between to highrises instead of lowrise buildings :) Not a big secret i'm a big sucker for highrises tough... :lol:

Funny that Snøhetta who designed the Opera think it's a great idea to built tall next to it, while "synsere" finds it outrageous to build anything at all next to it...

well, to be fair, i could only find very small sketches so it's hard to tell... it wasn't the worst, ceratinly.... but i did discover that the munch museum decision was a complete shambles, there were some fabulous designs, particulary the moomin shaped tent design...


EDIT: i found a few more pics, all small, and it does seem to work really nicely with the opera, that said, it also seemed to have a lot of stairs, which looked like hard work....

It has its own charm I guess... Still, dont need more of it, and certainly not in the city centre. I saw some proposal for something that could remind me of Vika terrace in Stockholm, in a surburban area with commies. That could work since you connect detached blocks with pretty urban buldings close to the road.

I respect your opinion, but I think people are pretty tired of your negative comments all the time. If your critic was a bit more specific and constructive, maybe people would bother to take you more seriously. What would you replaced Barcode with for instance.

The good thing about barcode, though, is that we are getting a good variation of buildings and styles all in one go... and the first few to have been built are certainly not the most interesting, isfjellet and the DnB buildings aren't what i'd call 'bland square boxes'...

the 'what could have been' may look nice in magic markers, but that as a reality would just be too much of the same thing,

and all that glass would be a nightmare with the low sun here. i was talking to a woman (nimby, admittedly) who worked in the skattøst building and, despite having new blinds fitted, according to her they are moving the entire 1800 staff out, cause it was just unworkable...you couldn't exactly put blinds over the rejected design....

^^Too bad. I really liked that one! Some spectacular architecture from BIG would fit mountain resort Norway, which mostly is stuck in the neo-old stuff that tries to mix Norwegian mideavel architecture with Swiss-style.
I remember this project was posted in here some time, but not excactly when... I guess it's impressive if they manage to build anything at all in these crisis times. Isn't the ski-resorts hit especially hard by the crisis?

Im in priciple against big intervention in spectacular nature but this project looks so awesome and spectacular itselfs, it would´t destroy the impression.

Actually, Sandmæl is still out promoting this project. There was an article in the current issue of Næringseiedom about it, but it wasn't really anything new. It's extremely unlikely to ever happen.

A 12 floor tall hotel designed by Space Group at Prostneset in Tromsø. Project was apart of the Prostneset harbour plans which was approved in 2003. The hotel was removed from the plans in 2008.

no matter which other building is proposed for this spot, it wont be a highrise.. which is exactly what this area needs.

Et nytt Rica-hotell i Lars Hillesgate i Bergen er planlagt å stå ferdig i løpet av mai 2012.

Its just because i have showed you several rejected proposals just now. SHL are world known architects and have achieved a lot more than many other architects. Less than 20% of the serious projects a architect firm propose actually get built in the end.
