Downtown Newark has so much potential. Lots of gems behind all that grit, they just need a good scrubbing. I hate when great buildings get ruined by tacky advertising, you see this in Downtown Brooklyn aswell. Anyway, last time I went Downtown I remember how well lit up the buildings were at night, looks great from afar. Downtown was really dead though, I felt as if I were in the set for 28 days later. She's got good bones but still needs a way to go. She'll get there...I hope. Your threads are always fun to look at nygirl.

Yes , by 2040 all Northeastern Major towns / Cities should have trams again. Alot of cities still have trams , Boston , Jersey City , Philly , DC , Baltimore , Norristown...

Some parts of NYC will rebuild trams and they will tie into our Networks Trams mostly on Staten Island which will have Tram lines that will feed into Elizabeth and Bayonne,NJ. Brooklyn has plans for a small or medium Tram network on busy bus lines. The rest of NYC is expanding the Subways and Railways.

I am not so optimistic about it. Look at all the crap with ARC tunnel to NYC. I will believe it once I see it.

The ARC is a terribly flawed project , i looked at many other projects and many of those are cheaper or better designed.

It sounds like the Red Hook streetcar has a pretty good chance of happening, and I've heard a lot of talk of having a light rail transit mall on 42nd St in Manhattan, which is basically trams. A lot of other bus routes will probably be converted to trams because they'll so much cheaper to operate when we start running out of oil.
