The English Garden in Munich is one of the most popular public parks in Germany. The English Garden is one of the worlds largest urban public parks.
It strechtes from the city center out to the north. The park is also famous for it's nudist areas.

Here are some photos:

In recent years Munich became a favorite destination for rich Arabs. They like the city because it's rich with a lot boutiques, a bit conservative and close to the mountains. They also come because of the good health infrastructue to be treated in Munichs hospitals.
So especially in summer you see a lot of tourists from the emirates in the city. It's always funny when they walk thorugh the English Garden and see the nudists. :)

One of the greatest urban parks I've ever been to. Far more relaxing, open-minded and natural than NYC Central Park for instance.

Thanks for introducing it here Fritz!

english garden is more beautiful than central park, that´s correct but
openminded ? these times are long over. today only families and
tourists populate the garden. nowadays most people in munich are
programmed robots !!

I agree that in Munich you find a lot of snobbish so called "programmed robots". But it's not like the whole city is full of these people. Excuse my English, but this statment is simply bulls.....

In the English Garden you will find on the pastures mainly citizens who live in Munich. And because Munich has almost 30 percent of foreigners ( even more than Berlin) you will find there a very relaxed and open minded atmosphere. There are Americans who play baseball, Africans who play soccer or play drums and Germans who are nudists :) , Arabs from the Emirates who just take a walk and simply a lot of different tourists from all over the world or just Munich's citizens who simply take a walk and go to the Chinese Tower to drink a beer.

Sometimes on a hot and sunny Sunday, when all the shops are closed, you can get the impression that Munich is an uninhabited city. Than you go to the Egnlish Garden and you suddenly realize where all the people hang around.

In my opionion the English Garden is the best tourist attraction Munich has to offer in summer.

Whoap! The German natural beauty! :)

I am not sure however, the fish-eating slim North Germans will ever agree with it or not...

But Munich is where I like better than Berlin!

Berlin is not North Germany its in the EAST. North Germans prefer Hamburg over Munich (old rivaly LOL).

I've never been to Munchen but this seems like an interesting park... great that projects like this are possible.. and indeed, the possibility to swim in a city center, wonderful..

Great open spaces. How about the arboreal species variety in this park?

Wow, those pictures are beautiful and it's definitely a place I'm looking forward to visiting. This spring I went to Vienna for the first time and I sense a similar vibe here. :D It was nice to visit a city that was well-organized and full of parks and relaxed people...
