The Jordanian Forum Deserves a Local Moderator

It seems pretty much each other forum on SSC has a local moderator except for the Jordanian forum (Even the Egyptian forum, which is younger the Jordanian forum already has a local Moderator). The role of a local moderator is to make it simpler for visitors and members alike to navigate a certain forum, update projects status (eg. U/C, planned, cancelled) and quite frankly the Jordanian forum is a bit of a mess at the moment. We have separate areas for pictures and projects, but many threads about new projects are located on the main board. Many projects have two threads; many threads aren’t even relevant to Jordan.

Projects which are now finished are apparently still “U/C” according to SSC, projects which have been cancelled are apparently “U/C”, projects which are topped out are still “Approved”.

The whole point of this forum is to provide up to date information for those seeking it.

Quite simply the Jordanian forum deserves a local moderator.

(Even if you do not visit the Jordanian forum regularly, if you have read up to here please support our cause for a local Jordanian moderator by signing your name on this thread)

I have said it before and I'm saying it again,
but first I would like to thank all SSC Middle East moderators for their excellent efforts in creating and maintaining this forum, but again this forum is growing really fast and becoming a bit hard to keep up with projects and updates, and it really needs a new moderator to join the team, someone dedicated only for this place and knows much about the projects going on Jordan can be really valuable and help this forum move ahead.

It's a bit frustrating that there are many projects with outdated information and we can do nothing about it

I agree 100% with yazm1991

I completely concur that we need a moderator, But the question is, how can we have a moderator? Is there a requirement or something else?

Not 100% clear on the requirments.

But I'm pretty sure the moderator must have been on SSC for at least 1 year, and must have a clean record (they havent been warned about rude comments).

If any moderator reads this can you please tell us the actual requirments to become one.

By the way, I did contact SSC over 2 weeks ago requesting to become the Jordanian moderator however I did not recieve a response, and hence started this thread.

well that is not how it goes
first of all, one of the moderators must suggest in the moderatos clubs the issue
then they discuss whether the jor forum really needs a moderator or not
if they all agree, they call for an elections
however, if we all agree on yazm then there is no need for an election they just have to choose him
i already spoke to mena moderator B-patriot and he told that he well discuss the issue with the other moderators and get back to me as soon as smth new comes up !!!
he asked me who r the candidates, i told him all jor forumers want yazm !!!
so we'll where things will go ???

Thanks for the info MARTYR. :okay:

I'm hoping that the moderators reach the conclusion that the Jordanian Forum deserves a moderator. My main argument is that the Egyptian forum, which is younger the Jordanian forum already has a local Moderator and that pretty much every other forum has a local moderator.

If I become the Jordanian moderator, I will do everything within my power to improve the Jordanian forum.

Lets just hope the other moderators feel the same way about a possible Jordanian moderator.

It appears that our fight to get a Jordanian Moderator has been lost, for now. They may have won this battle, but we will win the war.

However I will not stand down, within 2-3 I will present another argument to the mena moderators. All we need is an increase of posts, threads and with this I can begin to start up an argument for a Jordanian Moderator.

It seems that the mena moderators felt that the Jordanian forum did not need a local moderator.

I think its mostly because the Jordanian forum is still relatively small, with not much activity compared to other countries.

:ohno: Very disappointed by the decision, but I will not give up!

In that case, we must prove them wrong. We better post and update more info in the thread.

I agree and I am sure you will be a great moderator, we are doing this because we want the world to know more about jordan beside being a sandwich between palestinean/israel conflict and iraq confilct.

^^ For the record, I support the Jordan forum having its own moderator. Yazm has certainly been around long enough and understands the needs of this subforum. Usually the obstical is finding the right candidate, but I think we have one already that is well-suited. I will revive the issue among the moderators...

After conferring with B-Patriot, who is a regional mod that has moderator access to the Jordanian forum, it was brought to my attention that there has not been many - if any - moderating requests (meaning forum clean-up/action required).

The decision to upgrade a member to Moderator is only taken by an Administrator. It was our region's Administrator that made the decision based on the small size of this forum and the lack of any moderating needs (as far as he was concerned). Please keep in mind that this is by far the smallest forum in this section and hasnt shown many signs of rapid or sustained growth.

With that said, this does not mean you should all create 100 random OT threads or bombard the regional mods/admins with very minor or unnecessary requests.

Hopefully, this forum will have a local moderator in the near future, but the need must be demonstrated and truly warranted.

Good luck!
