Mbombela/Nelspruit City Gallery

Mbombela also and formerly known as Nelspruit is the finnancial and Legislative capital of the Mpumalanga Province in the east of South Africa.

It is located in the Lowveld valley surrounded by a natural setup of recognisable geographical features such as batholiths, mountain ranges and valleys.

It is very close to the Kruger National Park and other game parks.
The area is also known for its subtrobical fruits and has a Savanna Bushveld which is usally green in the hot wet summers and thorny in the dry cool winters.

The city has an estimated 400 000+ people who live in the city suburbs and eastern townships mainly Kanyamazane, Kabokweni and Matsulu.

The area has a temperature range of;

Average 30+ Degrees Celcius Summers
Average 20+ Degrees Celcius Winters

Common Languages;

SiSwati (Swazi)
Afrikaans
English
Tsonga

In general Mbombela/Nelspruit is a small city in a big natural setup.

The photo's look great and thank-you, but you said that you needed a buddy to stand guard while you took them?? Did you still need protection and why?? I was there last January going through to Inhambane and Maputo. This place is much safer than Moçambique...

greenandgold
November 7th, 2009, 08:30 AM
^^ The guard thing I was just fooling around :lol: . The city is a bit safer than most but its just that no one flashes their camera around. There are nice spots around which deserve to be captured on digital frames, but nevertheless I will have to do a single man's show not unless Tedpole helps me out with his much clearer camera. Hey ted can you please get us Nelspruit from the rugby stadium view and from the north farms from the R40 that will be nice to see from your camera.

Thank you guys for the feed back ok here is more for now,

Promenade Shopping Center

Once owned by Liberty Property Group but sold it to BEE consortium. I honestly think they have not been loving this property like the former owners who made sure that the complex was thick painted white 2 times a year and the mini park on the west supper clean and the ground was spotless and there was a permanent dog patrol.
But with the shopping centers boom outside the CBD this has become a shadow of what it was once.

View from the East

Hey Green and Gold... nice pics. Those shots of the showrooms, are they part of a new development corridor, or is this in the middle of town?
That last pic is absolutely beautiful...
Nel/Bom is really looking nice
Keep up the pics:)

greenandgold
December 9th, 2009, 05:57 PM
^^ The showrooms are on the development corridor towards the north and the plan is to join with the small town 20km to the north called White River.
The development area is called the Riverside and there are other developments here its just new building after building and I think in 25 years from now Nelspruit will be one with White River which is run from Nelspruit by the way.

Living in Cape Town, it is easy to forget the tropical Africaness of the north, the feel of that place!
So keep up the photos, take photos of anything, just the bush along the road ( or ANY bush, for that matter, if you know what I mean!)
We need more.

the face chico, it doesn't lie. Jokes, I actually clicked on your comment on N24 (y I don't comment on N24) and saw your FB avatar and that you stay in Nel and that you in IT, then I remembered you mentioning here on SSC that you're an IT entrepreneur, then when I saw your pic on this site I recognised you. Only thing left is to just get your name and location, maybe I'll ask Sdongerro :lol:
