Lovely picture. This Flower snow, is it the same as Sakura flower in Japan. Wish Malaysia have this kind of flower...but I guess it will not happen :)

Thie article says that even botanists are not sure where it was orginated from, but I remember reading another article on the internet which strongly suggests that Sakura came from Jeju.

its not so unbelieveable.... when i took classes on asian culture&history i remember our professor saying that during the colonization of korea by japan... japan took alot of things uniquely "korean" especially beautiful things like these flowers, were taken to japan and with japan's rise as a power things slowly became known as japanese
another professor said that korea misses out alot on naming rights, having japan and china as neighbors, it makes sense

그동안 너무 바빠서 여기 오지 못하다 오늘 들어오려고 하니 오랜만에 오다보니 비밀번호가 생각나지 않아 급한 김에 전화로 Seaniscoming에 물어 그의 비밀번호로 임시로 들어와 봤습니다. 남의 계정에 들어오니 기분이 이상한데요. Sean 흉내낼까 하는 유혹을 떨치기가 어렵습니다.
아, 그리고 이거 남 계정 강탈한 것이 되나요? 벌을 받아야 한다면 뭐 까짓거 받지요.

다름 아니라 저기 철없이 우리들( Sean과 저 )이 만들었던 thread를 지금 보니 너무 좀 창피하고 그렇습니다.
어차피 다시 여기 오기 어려워지고 온다해도 다혈질의 포스트 하기보단 이제 뒤로 물러나 조용히 구경하기로 결심한 이상 우리들이 전에 만든 threads는 없어졌으면 합니다.

사진 주인의 이름을 내걸었지만 사전 허가받지 않고 제 임의로 한국자랑 하려는 욕심으로 올렸는데 이제보니 좀 성급한 행동, 무책임한 행동이었다는 생각이 뒤늦게 듭니다.
그 중엔 여기 잠시 있었던 tanya님의 사진들도 섞어있어서 본인이 여기 더이상 자신의 사진이 게시되는 것을 원하지 않을 것으로 묻지않아도 충분히 사려되는 바 마땅히 지워져야한다고 생각합니다.

다시 부탁 말씀 드리지만, 저와 Sean이 함부로 게시한 사진들을 포함한 Thread를 모두 저희가 지울 수 있는 부분들을 지우지만 삭제된 사진이 있는 빈 thread는 볼썽 사나우니 thread 자체를 지워주신다면 더욱 감사하겠습니다.

그럼 저희가 그동안 끼쳐드린 모든 염려와 괴로움들을 다시 사죄드리면서 모두 건강하시고 행복하시길 빕니다.

For the places Japan had invaded they like to take things unique back to their country. Actually that goes for most invaders.

This cultivar is called Somei-yoshino in Japanese.
And a lot of gardeners made this cultivar at nothern place of Edo called "Somei" at Edo period(-1868) and shipped to Edo( Tokyo ).

This cultivar is based on the hybrid between Edo-higanzakura and Ohshima-zakura.
Before 1920,Scholar had the question if this cultivar was made artificially or naturally.
Jeju and Izu district was the candidates of research.
1920 Prof.Willson had the hypothesis that this cultivar was based on the hybrido between Ohshima-sakura and Edohigan-zakura.
1965 Prof.K Takenaka( National institute of Genetics ) re-originated by above hypothesis.
