New central hospital for Østfold is planned to the north of Sarpsborg alongside E6, the hospital is planned for construction start in 2011 and opening in 2015.

The building of 6400 sqm. will house exhibitions of science and technology, it is designed by Danish architect Aart (http://www.aart.dk/projects/?cat=1&id=57) and located at Lekevoll interchange on E6.
Construction starts in january by NCC constructions, and opening date is set to 1. august 2011.

A new exhibition-building is planned for the Østfold museum of middeaval history including an observation tower, Erik Møller architects.

An exhibition towards travellers on E6 to showcase Østfold, and specificly the old mountain-carvings found in numerous locations in southern Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad commune. To give an overview over these carving-fields a small observationtower will be built in materials wood, cortinsteel and glass, project is scheduled for opening in may 2010.

Kalnes hospital and especially the Science Center is very interesting developments. Looks like dark 'skifer' façade on the hospital, thats cool!

Coastline AS is interested in selling dutch-style floating houses for the new riverside development in central Halden:

The plan is to have a compact harbour on the island with the silo including a new railwaybridge. Mølen is the old harbour area with the railway-cars, Tyska & Hollenderen is the wooded area on the opposite site of the river, a new bridge is quite far into construction at the moment. In spite of this i can not see there being any fast development there. Haldenser generally feels it's to expensive to buy these new appartments. There was a riverside project a couple of years ago that was only built as a foodstore because of low sales. Therefor projects are quite few and the town keeps sprawling to all sides instead as the suburban houses sells quite well.

I see. Some potensial Halden has there, sadly I dont see how its going to develop as anything but a typical "new apartments in a small town", which usually means that the developer get to do as they wish.

the solberg tower is the ugliest building ive seen in my life. I live in Sarpsborg and Ive been passing next to that thing for days now and I could not even imagine of what it was build for. I just googled it and found this clarifying article on the purposes of the tower.

so apparently it is a museum tower? its that simple :okay: but damn it, that thing has bothered me for a long while. Im glad i solved this mistery, can't wait to tell others what it actually is.

It's the worst location ever, such a tower need to be built on high ground or scenic area - complete waste of money. The same tower built on Svinesund-platteau would make for excellent views tough.

MIR must be a bit confused :nuts:. Atleast they wrote Gøteborg in the text.

Stockholm-train could just as well go trough inner Østfold, but that isn't considered in Jbv HSR-study so Østfoldinger will in the future also have to change trains in Gothenburg to reach Stockholm :)

^^If the Swede's come up with a plan to make HSR all the way to the Norwegian border in Kongsvinger or Ørje, I think we'll get the last stretch upgraded too. But first they need some new trains where the wheels doesn't break all th time..

It seems like the underpass have some problems with the drainage allready. The bridge looks quite elegant though.

The councilman has recommended plans for new appartments and hotel at the Fredrikstad riverfront Seut. The 10 floor building will make the project a gate into the city from the north for rail and cars:

What is the purpose of this bridge? Is this a main road or some kind of attraction?

It's the road leading to Hvaler and it was built because the old bridge couldn't handle the current traffic volumes.

Hvaler yes, and not least to Keåkerøy, a large island and part of Fredrikstad city, where the stadium is.

Yes, it's absolutly necessary for the development of Værste, that is a large development-zone across the Vesterelva river from downtown.
