I saw an ad in the tbt today about the MPO hosting a Town Call. Basically, its a town hall meeting via phone to be held on November 10 and November 11 from 7pm til 8pm.

it was ok, all stuff I pretty much knew, didn't really learn anything else, all the calls were supportive, except 1, a lady who claimed she lived in New york, L.A., Phoenix and apparently every other city possible, her claim was that Tampa's layout isn't built for Light rail, and we shouldn't build it we should just make the bus system better, because even if ridership got to 5 to 10% it wouldn't be worth it. The panelist said they the same things were being said about Miami back in the day and now they have a mass transit ridership of over 10%, easily highest in the state

Tampa has a pretty large urban grid layout, It can definitely have light rail, that lady is a dumbass.
Also considering that the main mode of transportation when the city was built was street cars, which is pretty much light rail.
