My great grandfather was Charley [or Charlie, depending on which source you read] Exall, he was one of a group of boxing brothers originally from Bermondsey. He would have been a contemporary of your cousin and Curley. I never met him but he was also apparently a family riend.

I ve some stuff on Charley's fights [and the brothers] if you re curious, could email. St Georges Hall was apparently popular. There's also a story that post boxing Charley owned a waxworks, possibly gateshead but I can't find anything to stand it up.

    Hi Simon,

I can't help I'm afraid as I lost touch with his niece a few years ago when she moved to Spain with her husband and I never heard from her again.

    Hi Alf
Thank you for your prompt response.
He's one very interesting character and you should be proud that he's a relative! I would love to track down what happened to him. He seems to have had a knack for being in all the wrong places and annoying the wrong people. Do you have contact details for his niece? For sake of privacy you can email me on sdeefholts@outlook.com.
    Best regards

    Hi

I'm afraid not as he was a bit of a mystery in his private life. I have since found out that his given name was James Henry Watson not Keith Scott-Watson. There are several mentions of him marrying a "Catalan beauty" but the information about his death came from his widow who was an Israeli. I have never found any written evidence of the details of his death but his niece contacted the widow in Canada and that was the information she was given. He was definitely in Milan in 1950 but I can't find anything about his death.

    Dear Alf
In your posting on your cousin Keith Scott-Watson you mention that he died in Milan at the age of 38. Do you have any more information on this?
    Thanks and regards

Paul I have posted a response to your post on the Ask a Question thread re the Worley family with a very old photograph of W.R. Worley's Low Fell Coach Works. You may have seen it before but perhaps not. It was sent to me by a friend who is a member of the Gateshead Local History Group and I wonder if you would allow me to share your photograph of the Beaconsfield Garage with him.

    Senor Alf,

    Try this.

Go to the very bottom of the page and in the 'thick blue line' there is a box (on the left hand side) where you can select either English or Espanol.

Check that 'English' is selected, if not then select it.

All should then be ok, must have got accidentally changed !

    Cheers,
    Peter.

    Hi Debra,

I apologise unreservedly if my comment caused any offence and I assure you none was intended but on reading it again I realise I could have chosen my words better. It is nice to know the facts and thank you for that.

    Hi Alf
I am Debra, I have The Potters Wheel at Sunniside. My sister was in The Ninepins until last weekend. We come from a family that has been in the trade for over 5 generations across the northeast. I asure you she did not do a bunk from The Ninepins and it is rather sad when a hard working person is not meet half way by the pub co's. We also have another Enterprise outlet in the family but I myself would rather invest with Punch/Spirit Group.
Anyways, just thought I would let you have a few facts.
    Kindest regards
    Happy Posting
    Debra :)
