I'm a huge fan of steel coasters especially B&M for their smooth ride but the Cyclone at Coney Island deserves its famous reputation, it remains the only coaster ever to have truly freaked me out. We've done the cool coasters in Knotts Berry Farm; in Orlando we've ridden at Universal and Seaworld and in Tampa on the growing collection at Busch Gardens. See if you can find a copy of Roller Coaster by David Bennett and White Knuckle Ride by Mark Wyatt
My delight is in the aesthetics and design of these monsters and my love of architecture is rooted in the genius of some of the great names (see my signature) particularly the American Modern school; check out Lautner (you might know him for the Elrod house that was the Bambi & Thumper house in Diamonds are Forever) Much as I love what Steve Morgan is doing for the club, I'm a little disappointed that we weren't able to commission a really iconic stadium.

I think that it was a Blue Peter show in the seventies when they went on their summer trip to the USA and they went to Houston and rode Greezed Lightnin' at Astroworld; a Shwarzkopf single loop shuttle coaster. I'd never seen anything like it and then when I saw the movie "Rollercoaster" and the Revolution I was desperate to ride some of these fantastic coasters. In the late nineties I dragged my wife to California, we did Disneyland (where the Matterhorn Bobs is phenomenal and under rated) before visiting Magic Mountain for the first time; it was at the end of the season so I rode the Revolution over and over without having to get off. We were able to just walk on everything, no queues, nothing quite can prepare you as you drive along the freeway and all of a sudden you can see the coasters on the hillside. Colossus, Tatsu, Superman the Escape, Viper, Batman, Riddler's Revenge, Speed and Goliath the list goes on. You've got to go.

Got to say I've been really impressed with your posts; your contributions are making the forum too addictive.

I'll be missing the Swansea game as I'm off to Vegas and LA at the end of the month, already got my tickets for Six Flags, can't wait to ride X2, Collosus and try out the new Green Lantern coaster. Took my two nephews last year and was the first time I'd been to the mountain when X2 wasn't broken, awesome coaster grinning from ear to ear. Will be my fifth visit to Vallencia. Also looking forward to Knotts Berry Farm as Ghost Rider is my favourite woody after the Cyclone at Coney Island. Maybe next year will include a trip to Sandursky park. What are your favourites coasters?

Will be taking the IPad to the States to keep up-to-date on the redevelopment so you'll have to keep the posts coming.

    Cheers...
