If you look at the history of the Indian subcontinent, various parts were ruled by various rulers in different timelines for eg. if you look at the Nanda Empire 345 BC, It ruled over lands of todays India, Bangladesh and Nepal and then came the mauryan empire which ruled present day Afghanistan, pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal etc. You should read about the History of India, when you have the free time, to get an idea of the whole scheme of things. Infact, all Indian languages ie Bengali, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati are derivatives of Sanskrit. The only language that doesnt originate from it is tamil. Half of my bengali side is actually from Sylhet and I think we still have some family there.
