What next, inter-junction Maglev and flying cars? Why can't anyone think of nice, feasible things like BRTS?abhilashtvpm said:

Additional Chief Secretary T Balakrishnan conducted a powerpoint presentation on the project Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system being planned by INKEL and London-based company Ultra.expressbuzz
So we put cars in the sky?!! PRT is a system for efficient, local travel which is usually within a dense, mixed-use concept. The PRT concept is very integrally linked with MIT and the MIT Media Lab is perhaps the pioneer in the field of personal, ubiquitous transportation.Ajay,
BRTS need a dedicated two lane road. Not a good idea in a city where the land acquisition is a herculean task.
Modern day Don Quixotes are ruling our stateWhere is this State headed to?! hno:
+1. The "inventor" of metro rail in india says much expensive Metro rail in some other district can be completed in 3 years. But monorail in 10 years !!!! :bash:(WTF... 10 years to build monorail. Is this guy on weed.) Next proposal will be to give all trivandrumites Segways . Then you don't have to worry about land acquisitions or dedicated tracks . Every one will be happily zipping around the city.
Definitely not weed. Been there, done that, and no personal Rail Transport vehicles were injured.(WTF... 10 years to build monorail. Is this guy on weed.)
Ajay, you forgot to mention cable cars. wouldn't be difficult considering TRV topography. environmental friendly too . I thought the city was looking for mass transit solutions which would effectively disperse traffic demand in the shortest possible time, with the largest volume in the most cost effective manner, not an housing colony approach. So we put cars in the sky?!! PRT is a system for efficient, local travel which is usually within a dense, mixed-use concept. This technology is NOT meant for urban mass transit on a city scale.
It seems like anyone who comes with any proposal, however crazy, will get instant approval from this Government!
No one has time for a serious urban and transportation planning exercise in the Trivandrum Metropolitan Area, which should be the logical first step in coming out with the best mass transit and personal travel systems.
:
Yes in "DREAM".:lol:One doubt. Any INKEL's project started anywhere till now?
