No skyscrapers planned, but plenty of interesting mid-rise projects. Notably:

http://www.thewatergardens.co.uk/ - still under construction

http://www.chambers-wharf.co.uk/ - finally a planning application for this crucial site

http://www.canadawater-southwark.co.uk/ - regeneration project around Canada Water - to include a distinctive new library by Piers Gough, a revamp of the mall (no info yet at http://www.surreyquaysshoppingcentre.co.uk/redevelopment.html), new restaurants, cafes, residential buildings

http://www.bermondseyspa.co.uk/site/bs_home.html - big regeneration project, mostly now in early stages of construction

Transport-wise, the East London Line (stops at Rotherhithe and Canada Water) shuts at the end of this year, to reopen two and a half years later with extensions north and south, new trains, and a rebrand as London Overground (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/projectsandschemes/networkandservices/2105.aspx)

And there's a feasibility study underway for a cycling and pedestrian bridge to link Rotherhithe to Canary Wharf (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/default.asp?sID=1093338220720), which would be very welcome as the Rotherhithe Tunnel is no fun if you're not in a car.

From LondonCamera on Flickr:

Meanwhile I've discovered that Sellar's have a (minimal) web presence for their consultation about the Decathlon and What site (sites C and E) at Canada Water. There's nothing there other than a blurb* and an email address - but still, since SELondoner kindly posted pics of the boards from the exhibition, it means I can throw in my two cents' worth from my Canadian exile... http://www.sellarcanadawater.com/

*The blurb is nice and clear on timetable:

Sellar intends to submit a planning application to Southwark Council in late October/early November 2012.

The Baby Cascades building is called Tunnel Wharf, I used to live in one of the apartments. I was informed on viewing by the letting agent - and confirmed on my own investigation, the Rotherhithe Tunnel passes directly below the building and the old wharf building next door.
Apparently the engineers at the time were concerned about the weight of the building on top of the tunnel, from what i understand the wharf building next door had major repairs due to cracks during construction of the tunnel and had 'repairs' done again in the 90's due to "years of movement and of traffic vibrations from below', hence Tunnel Wharf being built a little 'lopsided to prevent building foundations deep or having any further issues from the tunnel.

It also allows more light to be shed into the Churchyard and low level homes behind it. The neighbouring wharf building is a veritable jungle of greenery too which makes a nice change from all the concrete and glass of contemporary buildings......

Snap of Maple Quays from Tower Bridge this afternoon
Wow - great pic, and amazing compression. Montreal House looks huge, and the tower (Ontario Point) appears to be right next to King's Stairs Gardens rather than down the road at Canada Water.

And there's the leaning tower of Rotherhithe, on the right in the foreground.

Meanwhile, if you've ever wondered what the strange wonky old house is at the top of King's Stairs Gardens, apparently it's also known as the Leaning Tower of Rotherhithe, and here's a well-written blog piece on it: http://thelondonphile.com/2012/05/09/the-leaning-tower-of-rotherhithe/

I think that article is about this other water tower which is also in Shooters Hill

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/19608

The article says, at the end, about the tower in your photo:

"Anyone who has driven up Shooters Hill will know there is a third tower at the top - a massive octagonal brick and stone affair built in 1910. Its bulk dominates the hill, and it would certainly convert into the most imposing house imaginable. But it is not available - Thames Water still needs it to keep the neighbourhood's taps running."

As a kid me and a friend got together with the Eltham Society to go in and clean up the Castle in the late 80's, view from the top was great, had little plaques detailing the distances to various landmarks

Got me picture in the News Shopper and everything!!

Movement in Lewisham. I just read in estate gazette that the Lewisham Gateway is moving forward. It looks like Wimpey have managed to get funding for the social housing element. It looks like the amount of retail will be cut from 150,000 to 70,000 though.

It will also no longer have a cinema, as the Lewisham shopping centre has managed to get operators in interested in its revamp, where it will convert the old Leisure centre space into a multiplex with 5 or 6 new restaurants.

I think it works ok, the generously sized (by todays standards) and haphazard windows combined with evidence of roof top gardens gives it a reasonably cosy habitable feel.

The subtly reflective light marine colour offsets the overcast weather (far better than beige would manage) and would obviously work well against deep blue sky too.

^^Those are the old names, still used in Barratt's portfolio document, but the buildings are being marketed as Ontario Point (the tower) and Brampton House.

Not sure what you mean by starting in July - construction is ongoing (per Chest's fine photo, and various previous updates in this thread) and the flats have been on sale for some time -
