With broad shoulders, easy access to great swimming venues, and even an award worthy university aquatics program down the street, one might think I would have taken the watered path in life. Rather than swimming in world class facilities, I, Goothrey, have designed a world class aquatics center. New York City needed a solution, and my design company and I have stepped up and answered their call. I present to you the 2024 New York City Olympic Aquatic Centre. With the design, I came into this project focusing on the marine aspect as the facilities are located by water, in water, and around water. It was only natural for a design that complements its surroundings. This project provided a unique opportunity in that it opened the door for an easy implementation of natural light throughout the structure. Keeping the environment in mind, the design conveniently allow fresh air to easily circulate through out the structure with little energy requirements. Being that the world will be looking upon this structure, the design needed to be unique, as well as modern. The goal is that if a person quickly catches this structure in the corner of their eye, they will look again with curiosity and eagerness to enrich their mind about the structure.

The Structure:

Legacy Phase

After the Olympic games, the structure will become competition and recreational complex that will suit the needs of New York City, New York state, and even rare instances with the rest of the nation. There will be a swim shop in the east entrance of the structure. On the west side entrance there will be a small museum covering the 2024 Olympic games, focusing on the aquatic games. There will be a swim program taking ages from 5 to 17 that practice in this complex.

The Water Polo pool will be removed and in its place will be two diving pools. The pools with have varying diving heights which could be used for training, or reaction. A jacoozy/warm water bath will accompany the pools.

The training pool with be removed along with its seating and will be replaced with two full sized 50x25 pools. One pool could be used for training, while at the same time, the general public could use the other. Public showers are connected to this area. The wall between the main competition area and the training area has been removed.

For the main competition area, the second level of seats was removed, reducing the capacity to 5416. Capacity can increase with temporary seating according to demand. This made room for a public shower with access from the training area.

kmuffi you are right:And JC i use only the symbolic of the roofpart it shuold show to the two footprint of the former towers this is what foster see in the 200 greenwich roof.

soon i will post more stuff.

My intention was as i draw the first hand draw plan to create four towers huge towers which everyone has another design and has nothing to do with each other. This are towers which shuold fits harmonicaly into the skyline.

The two HUGE towers should replace what NYC lost on 911 a sympolic recreation of the skyline of downtown. For examplke look at the roofs one with one without antenna.I also want to make it more futuristic and have a symbolic cohesion with the ESB so i decided to put heliports on the top.

On the far left i add another tower what has similaritys with the new GS bldg to make the skyline more harmonis.

1WTC the one with the spire would be 875m tall
"Wtc the one without spire 740m tall.

some other angles

1) from New Jersey

2) the plaze

3) the typical staten island ferry view

4) from a chopper up the east river

The chubbily bldg at castle Clinton should be the new downtown opera house.

to pic 2 i used the idea to make the west street dieapppear at the trade center into a tunnel.

The lower building at greenwich street shuold be the WTC museum and entrance to the memorial. The oval shaped annex at 2WTC is the station.

Towers 3 the one with the 200 greenwich roof and tower 4 the twisting one are connested with a podium which should be used for the public as a small plaza both towers first 5 floors are retail floor so they need something like a plaza.

The tower with the hole rooftop is a residential tower.

The building where the orthodox church stood is the new WTC hotal.
