Yeah.. from Uk is easyer to go to the coast, almost every british tourist go there and it's the only image they have of the country.. may be if you fight with easy jet and look for a cheap room in the city (it's not easy because Madrid is the most visited city in Spain)
There are cheap flights to Madrid with Ryanair, Easyjet and Jet2 as I've used them before to fly to Barajas to go to Salamanca. But if I just get the flight then I have to look for rooms, and that often works out more expensive than just getting a package.
