Plaza Centers has entered into a public-private partnership agreement with the Government of Romania to develop the approximately
US$1 billion Dambovita Center (known as Casa Radio) scheme in Bucharest, the largest development plot available in the city centre.

The Dambovita Center development sits on a 9.195 hectare (22.7 acre) site located in central Bucharest, incorporating a large area
of the Bucharest city centre. Gara de Nord, the city's main railway station is nearby as well as the adjacent Eroilor Metro Station and
a number of trolley bus services which serve the site.

The development of Casa Radio comprises approximately 360,000sqm, including:
*two towers of 145metre and 135metre of 53,000 sqm each
* A 120,000 sqm shopping mall and leisure centre
* residential area
* hotel, casino
* hypermarket
* convention and conference hall.

Project status: demolition works and initial construction commenced, approaching final concept design.

Casa Radio is an unfinished building in Bucharest, near Cotroceni, on the shore of the Dâmboviţa River. It has been erected during the
late 80's by the Communist regime over the terrain which used to be the Bucharest Hippodrome before WW-II. The balcony of the
unfinished building facing Stirbey Voda street was used by the Romanian dictator Ceausescu in 1989 August 23 to watch the festivities
marking Romania's National Day. It was the last communist style parade in Romania.

the building is partialy demolished, keeping only the facade.

Is that a water fall going over the top of the building? Probably not but that would be cool if it was.

...and what's with that Ferris wheel? Why does every European city have to have one? I think they are ugly. I hate the London eye. They should have made a giant pendulum or teeter-tater, it would have been more interesting.

I think that area will also get replaced in time... maybe with other highrises, since it's near a large boulevard that can get some traffic....

btw the new design with 3 highrises looks even better. but no info about their new specs.
looks like operations are still underway , the press said the near hospital get stressed by the demolition explotions.
