DUMAGUETE CITY—The country’s first medical resort, owned by a former senator, is expected to rise in Barangay Bantayan in this city.
The South Sea Resort will be developed into a medical resort called South Sea Medical City (SSMC) which will house a 100-bed tertiary hospital, two condominium buildings, a 200-room resort-hotel, a fitness center, souvenir shops, swimming pools and a helipad.
The hospital will have facilities for the treatment of cancer and blood diseases.
The Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Inc. in Dumaguete City will be upgraded from a 150-bed capacity to 300, its president and administrator, Roberto Montebon, said.
I passed through the beachfront of South Seas hotel today, and the resort property has been already fenced. Workers constructing the beachfront road said the hotel has been closed for several months already. Both the road workers and residents in the area said that Osmena already purchased the remaining lots in the area.
The road workers said that a small pier would be constructed in the area. I believe all these things would pave the way for the construction of the long delayed South Seas Medical City.
