The Globe Theatre Renovation | Stockton | U/C
FANTASTIC NEWS!
Quote:
![]() This end of Stockton high street could be brilliant; Now with Maxwell's corner refurbished, this soon to be as well as Manhattan's over the road, which they state in the article (adjacent property), it could start to really improve Stockton high street.

This is great news! The Globe is a fantastic building ,with a fantastic history, at last its going to be brought back into use.
This could potentially be a great venue if done right and they dont interfere with the fabric of the building too much.

Yes exactly, but will Stockton be able to sustain both the Arc and the Globe, i'm not sure.
Where did you get that picture from? Got one of that Manhattans over the road which is also to be developed?

Thanks.
I'm sure i've read that it also includes extending it as well, i don't see where they could extend it? There isn't much space too. I hope this does happen, and i can't wait to see it all done up, i think it could potentially become one of the most popular buildings in Teesside if done properly.

Yes, probably at the car park at the rear? I wouldn't of thought they'd be allowed to extend onto the alleyway.
Thanks for posting that, interesting, seems as its really in there best interests to make this happen as well, and hopefully they can help give it a boost and get this done. I see The Empire is listed as "low risk" as well.

Think the decision is made in early Feb. so sounds promising. Plans seem brilliant.
Did you see the planning app link i posted for North Shore in the North Shore thread? Also seems good. I think the MBC planning site is still broken isn't it?

The Globe Theatre is usually locked up tight and has been for nearly twenty years. James Holgate, project co-ordinator with Jomast, took a visit inside with the local Gazette. See the article and interior photos here:

I'd love to get in it to get some photos! Probably the most exciting project going on in Teesside, can't wait to see it restored! Like to see a good lighting scheme on a night lighting up the fantastic features of the building.

With a bit of luck it should attract some more investment for that end of the High Street

Not just that End of the Highstreet, the whole of Stockton! Needs it, and if they can attract some quality acts this alone could boost Stockton for many years to come.
