For some reason I can't stop looking at that Gold Coast picture. The fashions, the pavement, the cars, the signs and the expression on that womans face - looking at the Meter Maid.

Paradise Towers doesn't look any different to four decades ago! (No doubt the interior's been renovated, though.)

It was the Metropole Hotel - demolished late 60s/early 70s, it's successor demolished in 1991 for the current Governor Macquarie Tower. The successor of the building on the right was demolished on 2008 for 1 Bent St ("space")

thats actually george street.(societe generale in centre)
iskandar-Hotel metropole was built 1889 and demolished in 1974 to make way for CAGA. this was demolished in 1993 to make way for GMT.

Cul - definitely 1991 for CAGA demolition. I was working opposite until Oct 1992, and GPT/GMT were already well underway with construction by then.

im pretty sure demolition carried over to 1992.GPt was completed in 1993.
GMT didnt start construction until 1993.

I was working opposite GPT, so maybe I didn't really notice GMT - my bad if that's the case. GPT was around 18 levels by Oct '92.
