[6/28/2004] A projects/under construction and skybar subforum have been added. Here are some clarification as to what topics should be posted under which subforum:

Main section: skyline and cityscape photos, city issues
Projects and under construction: projects and u/c obviously
Skybar: everything else


If you have any suggestions/comments regarding any aspect of the Korean forum (organization, acceptable behavior, how it should be run, etc), please share them with us here. Your inputs are always welcome! Also, forum announcements will be posted here in the first post.


For a starter, we can talk about whether we should keep the subforum or not. Some forumers have expressed concerns over its performance and requested to have it merged back with the main forum. Click here to read the discussion. What do you think?

Well, either mergeing the forums or letting them seperated each one has some good points and some weak points. But as for me, I was off the forum for a while, so I didn't have the chance to grasp the situation of this forum. I agree with mookicece we should discuss about them.

I think we should make a subforum for u/c buildings. There are far too many u/cs in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and other cities, and I think it would be good to make a thread for each buliding/project and their updates.

I think this forum needs to be advertised some how for free so we can attract more active members

Maybe posting links from other large korean forums would help

but i cant do this as i cant read korean forums but maybe you can

lets see if we can attract enough new memebers to make it the largest regional forum on ssc.com that would really show that korea is a rising country wouldn't it

The Korean forum could use some advertisement... I don't really know where to adversite though. I think enough people know about our forum at the Daum cafe already. I've been telling my friends about it and they told me I had a weird hobby hehe. They didn't sound terribly interested..

New subforum for U/C sounds like a good idea. There certainly are tons of highrise projects happening all over Korea. We can make a thread for each major cities, metors, and/or provinces so it will be easier to keep track of them.

I think we can make a thread for each project. Maybe projects like IBC, Lotte World II, Centum Park, and Star City can be sticky.

항상 놀라움과 기쁨을 주는 런던님,
이건 이 thread와 관계없이 궁금해서 질문드리는데요.
위에 포스트한 인천 트레이드센터는 송도신도시 국제비즈니스센터 지구의 복합앵커빌딩을 말씀하시는 건가요?
그거 공사중인거 확실한가요?
계획에 의하면 사업시행자(NSC: 미 The Gale company 70%,POSCO 30%)에 의해 2003년부터 사업시기로 나와있지만
2003년 1월 15일 세부실행협약 체결 후 2004년상반기에 컨벤션센터, 국제업무빌딩, 호텔, 쇼핑몰 등에 대한 우선 착공한다고 하곤 별 진짜공사 얘긴 아직 듣지 못해서요.


최근 인천 구월동 한미은행옆에 15층 규모의 인천컨벤션타워가 완공을 바로 앞두고 있는 것으로 아는데 송도신도시내에 또 컨벤션센터을 만들면 인천은 2개의 컨벤션관련 타워 & 센터를 가지는데.....

일산컨벤션센터(KINTEX, 100층 일산컨벤션센터 건립하려던......)와도 가까운 지역에서 너무 많은 컨벤션센터들을 지어 서로 과잉투자를 하고 제 살깍아먹기 과당경쟁이라면서 서로 컨벤션센터규모를 대폭 축소을 요구하며서 갈등을 빚어온 것으로 아는데......
인천 내에서 또 컨벤션센터를 지을 것 같진 않아서 질문드립니다.

제가 잘 모르거나 혹 잘못 알고 있는 것에 대한 정보교환 및 의견교환으로 드리는 질문이니 아시대로 알려주시면 감사하겠습니다.

“전시장 수요는 개척하기 나름인 만큼 현재 계획을 축소할 수 없다.”
고양 한국국제전시장(KINTEX)이 내년 4월 문을 열 예정인 가운데 인천시가 자유경제구역 내에 한국국제전시장의 규모와 비슷한 전시시설을 계획해 논란이 일고 있다.
인천시가 자유경제구역 지정을 계기로 송도지구에 연면적 1만8천평 규모의 국제컨벤션센터 건립을 추진하자 고양 국제전시장의 주무기관인 산자부가 규모를 줄일 것을 인천시에 요구하고 있으나 인천시는 계획대로 추진하겠다며 맞서고 있다.
산자부와 KINTEX는 고양 전시장의 시설 규모가 수도권의 전시수요를 감안해 계획돼 있는 만큼 인천시에서 같은 규모의 전시장을 건립하게 되면 공급과잉이 일어난다며 추진계획에 반대하고 있다.
더욱이 서울시도 상암동에 비슷한 규모의 컨벤션센터를 계획하고 있어 이 시설이 모두 개장되면 제살 깎아먹기 식 경쟁으로 서로 경쟁력을 상실할 수 있다며 전시규모 축소가 필요하다고 주장하고 있다.
반면 인천시는 정부의 동북아허브 육성정책에 맞춰 전시컨벤션시설 건립을 추진할 계획이라며 수요는 개척하기에 따라 커질 수 있는 만큼 당초 계획을 그대로 추진한다는 방침이다.
인천시는 1천200억원을 들여 송도지구 내 8천400여평의 부지에 1만8천평 규모의 전시장을 오는 2007~2008년까지 건립할 계획으로 있다.
전시시설 투자를 약속한 미국 게일(GALE)그룹은 경쟁력을 갖추기 위해선 이 정도 규모는 필요하다는 입장이어서 시설규모를 줄일 수 없는 속사정이 있는 것.

이 같은 양측의 입장 차이로 내년 4월 문을 열 예정인 KINTEX는 개장 3~4년 뒤 인천시와 경쟁관계에 놓이게 돼 당초 계획한 3년 내 손익분기점 도달 계획에 차질이 우려되고 있다.
KINTEX는 서울 코엑스보다 1.7배 넓은 1만6천여평의 전시시설을 건립, 이 시설을 산업전시회 위주로 활용해 경쟁력을 확보하겠다는 복안을 갖고 있다.
KINTEX의 한 관계자는 “인천시가 현재 계획대로 컨벤션센터 건립을 추진하게 되면 양 전시장 기능의 중복으로 서로 피해를 볼 수 있다”며 “이러한 점을 우려해 산자부가 전시시설 축소를 요구하고 있다”고 말했다.

전시컨벤션산업 '과열 조짐'

전시컨벤션산업이 황금알을 낳는 미래산업으로 떠오르고 있다. 대구의 엑스코와 부산의 벡스코 등 지역의 전시컨벤션센터가 당초 우려와는 달리 높은 가동률을 보이면서 초기 적자에서 흑자로 전환하고 있다.

이에 따라 전국 지자체들이 너도나도 전시컨벤션센터 건립에 뛰어들면서과열경쟁에 따른 제살깎기가 우려되고 있다.

높은 가동률올 4월 개관 3주년을 맞은 대구전시컨벤션센터(exco)는 지난해 69%의 높은가동률을 보였다. 전시산업은 행사장 준비와 철거에 드는 시간을 감안할때 가동률이 75% 정도면 포화상태.

엑스코는 올해도 대구국제소방안전엑스포와 대한민국 국제섬유기계전, 대한민국 국제모터사이클쇼 등 3대 빅 이벤트를 성공적으로 마치는 등 가동률 70%를 낙관하고 있다.

부산전시컨벤션센터(bexco)도 2001년 9월 첫 개장때 전시장 가동률이 26%에 불과했으나 2002년 40%, 지난해 46%에 이어 올해는 51%에 이를 것으로보고 있다.

벡스코는 국제 경쟁력을 갖추기 위해서는 2전시관 신축을 포함한 컨벤션센터 확장이 불가피한 것으로 보고 이달 중순께 용역을 주기로 했다.

제주국제컨벤션센터(icc)도 국제회의 분야에 두각을 보이면서 전시컨벤션산업이 제자리를 잡아가고 있다.

‘너도 나도’ 과열경쟁현재 전시컨벤션센터를 운영하고 있는 지자체는 서울(coex)과 부산, 대구, 제주 등 4곳.내년에는 경기 고양과 광주, 경남 창원 등 3곳이 문을 열예정이고 울산과 대전이 2007, 2009년 완공을 목표로 전시컨벤션센터를 추진하고 있다.

또 인천도 송도신도시에 전시컨벤션센터건립을 추진중이다. 이에 따라 전시컨벤션산업이 조만간 ‘포화상태’에 이를 전망이다.

특히 전국 최고규모( 전시장 1만7,000평 )로 건립될 고양전시컨벤션센터(kintex)는 대구서 최근 개최한 국제모터사이클쇼를 내년에 유치키위해 활동을 벌이는 등 벌써부터 기존 전시컨벤션센터와 신경전을 벌이고 있다.

광주는 ‘호남권에는 제대로 된 전시공간이 없다’는 이유로 국비지원을받아냈으나 창원전시컨벤션센터는 부산의 벡스코와 근접한데다 차별성도크지 않아 시장 나눠먹기가 불가피하다.

전시컨벤션 관계자는 “전시산업의 성장세가 두드러지지만 초기에는 적자를 면치 못하는 것도 사실”이라며 “지역마다 특화하지 못하면 전국 모든전시컨벤션센터가 하향평준화할 것”이라고 우려했다.

대구전시컨벤션센터 백창곤(60) 사장은 “공해없고 부가가치가 높은 미래산업이 전시컨벤션이다. 하지만 도시마다 지역 특화산업 위주의 행사를 유치하고 해외에서 새로운 프로젝트를 따오는 것만이 모두 사는 길”이라고말했다.

송도 타워가 취소될 위기에 처한 이유가 바로 이 65층 타워때문이죠 현재 공사중이라는 뉴스를 몇번 본 적이 있는 것이 기억나네요. 어차피 송도는 경제 자유구역이기 때문에 인천과는 별개입니다. 무엇보다 65층 WTC 는 세계무역센터의 기능이고 컨벤션센터는 부가기능이기 때문에 별 문제가 없을 것으로 보이네요.

Another thing, we'll going to add to the Korean forum a new post count disabled skybar type of subforum to keep irrelevant idle chit chat stuff seperated. This is to discourage spamming behavior by ensuring posts of that nature do not count towards your postcount . Not that we have any spammers in here, I think our posts are actually very high quality. It's just that all forums are being encouraged to have a such section. Now we just need to come up with a cool name for it... All I can think of is just the plain old 'Skybar'... pretty boring -_-;;..... I'm out of ideas so let's hear yours.
