So Google have finally given us a local YouTube service

We have .nl version in The Netherlands, but it has the same homepage. And it's still in English.

It's doing the same for me. Looks like there may be a problem or something, as I can still see the South African-customized videos etc, but yesterday that red behind the "Tube" in YouTube's logo was the South African flag and the .co.za address was working fine.

I'd just like to point out that I'm the 17th most popular director on Youtube South Africa. Needless to say I've never directed anything in my life, but I'll take the accolade.

does this now mean that we can use our local bandwidth on youtube, coz i get 100 Gigs a month and got no way of using it

I dont think so, most of our vids are still hosted on youtubes international servers so I doubt if we are capped we can access it..... sucks I know

Google cache some of their content on local servers, but you still need international bandwidth in order to access it.

Get with the times. Get uncapped

what the hell is a cap? i have never heard of that....i pay 35 dollars for my 4G unlimited and i dont worry about someone busting my internet's cap.

but you dont live in south africa.

Its a bandwith limit based on the quantity you download instead of your line speed and contention ratios. Its particularly bad in South Africa where Caps are extremely low (think 3-10gigs) though recently theres been a move towards uncapped offerings in the fixed line market.
