I had a look through (granted only a few) pages of the Architecture forum and didn't see an art deco related forum i even looked in classic architecture.

So i decided that i needed to create an art deco thread all about your favourite art deco highrises, skyscrapers and supertalls.

Just post your favourites and it's always nice to see pictures

so my favourite 5 have to be:

i only posted a few, the first was my personal top 5, the second was a selection from countries that arent the USA, but that building is great and i agree Detroit has some great art deco buildings i'd go with New York as the capital IMO

The Art Déco-skyscraper capital of the world is probably Havana, they have quite a lot of them along the Malecón.
Unfortunately, I don't have any good pics atm.
But don't mind posting more pics. I like the style quite a lot.

Great thread ArrHo!I didnt mean to be rude over in The Devon tower thread!I'd like to throw out The FNC tower in Oklahoma City built in 1931 and stands 493'ft tall to The spire!

The AiQun hotel in Guangzhou. It was hard to find a decent pic, as it is located in a constricted area. It is located on a triangular lot and looks imposing in person.

A stark reminder of financial crisis anmd how it affects buildings, this was the original plans for the Metropolitan Life Insurance North Building:

It was a proposed 100 storey art deco skyscraper that would have dominated the NY skyline but due to the great depression construction stopped on the 30th floor, here it is today:
