LAS VEGAS - UNLV Football Stadium (40,000)
Developers laid out plans today for a 150-acre master-planned development near the UNLV campus that would include retail space and residential housing, with a 40,000-seat domed stadium as its centerpiece.
The proposed domed stadium would evolve around a movable seating sections concept, like one used in Japan at the Saitama Super Arena. Silverton Casino Lodge president Craig Cavileer said the stadium would have 40,000 seats to accommodate UNLV football games, with seating of about 20,000 for UNLV basketball games and other events such as concerts, soccer, boxing and bullriding. It would have the option of seating as few as 7,500 people. Pics here. ![]() Edit: Also can a mod rename the city name to LAS VEGAS in the title? How embarrassing. |

Looks really cool. When I was in Vegas this summer I saw the rendering and walled off area for that other arena on the strip. Are those plans scrapped or still there aimed at stealing an NBA team?

This is a huge, complicated and expensive looking project. And they already waffled when asked for a cost, saying that it is "far too early" to put on a price tag. To me that is male cow droppings.

The developers gave no timetable and no cost estimates for this.
To me that means that that they are attempting to elude the city/county who shot down arena plans in June 2010 since they asked for public money and they are going directly to the state. The state will conduct public meetings on the state budget and possible education cuts this Saturday. And now they want "a private/public partnership". OK |

If the UNLV On-Campus Football Stadium is built, what will be done to Sam Boyd stadium, Demolition?

Silver State. That's the one. There was a hole section of land fenced of with Silver State and the arena's rendering all over it as if it was under construction or about to be built.

Last July, Milam was the guy who said that an NBA team was under contract to relocate to Las Vegas if a new arena was built, preferably on a plot of land he owned. “We have an NBA team under contract, (but the deal will take effect only) if other pieces of the puzzle fall into place: One of those pieces will be that a building is approved.”- Las Vegas Sun July 14, 2010 He also says that the $2B will be privately financed. With hotel projects halted and Las Vegas' jobless rate near 15%, this will not even have a groundbreaking ceremony. http://www.fieldofschemes.com/news/a...per_propo.html |
