Midwest Metro GMP Rankings
The US Bureau of Economic Analysis has released the 2009 Gross Metropolitan Product figures. Here are the 30 largest Midwestern Metros (by GMP). The numbers are expressed in 2005 dollars, to account for inflation. Original data is here.
While most cities experienced a decline during the 2008-2009 period, this followed a decade of general growth in the Midwest. Columbus, OH is definitely a prosperous place. There are a lot of wealthy people there (in both the city and suburbs) and comparatively less ghetto than typical, blighted Midwestern cities.

I'd imagine MSP rates well nationally in terms of GMP per capita, not just in the Midwest.
