Rettai Pillayar is there at Kumbakonam. It is on Neelathanaalur Road near to Kamarajar Nagar. The name of the temple itself is Rettai Pillayar Kovil.

Guess the place thread is not for those trying to find some quick information.

Yes tourism thread is there!! Unless we don't want to seperate tourism from religious places I guess this thread could stay.

Are temple gopurams not skyscrapers? If TVH apartment homes and Suubulakshmi apartments can have seperate threads why not temples?

Hi Dinesh
Please keep the name of the thread as it is. No need to change the name. This name is more spcific and apt. With thousands of temples spanning
1000s of years in Tamil Nadu this thread has the caliber to stand on its own.

It is my little suggestion(may be worth 2 paisa) that the people who are visiting the thered to get info reagarding a specific temple will find it easy if the thread is fully dedicated
to temples rather than clubbing it with other tourist attractions, National Parks, Churches and Mosques. I see this thread has the potential (In long run) to be a wikipedia of all the temples in and around TN.

Why do we need temples when God is everywhere?...A wise man answered Air is everywhere, still you need a Fan to feel it.

So, how wise was the man?

We all have experienced that when we are in a silent atmosphere or when we pray together whole- heartedly we certainly experience peace and satisfaction. God certainly dwells in every living soul of the universe. If so, then why do we go to temples? Is it a ritual? Or do we simply follow that because our fathers and great grand fathers practiced it?

Well, the answers are that, our ancestors had really implanted many scientific benefits of visiting temples. Here we make a humble approach to share the knowledge that we gained though self-learning, teachings, preaching and of course Wikipedia.

The historical annals on Indian temples date backs to 2nd and 3rd century B .C. Temples did not exist during Vedic period. The practice of casting images of deities mentioned in the Vedic mantras might have come into vogue by the end of Vedic period. The Yajnasala of Vedic period got metamorphosed into temples by epic period owing to the influence of cults of devotion.

A Hindu temple consists of an inner sanctum, the Garbha Griha or the womb-chamber, in which the image or the deity is housed. From the square shape of the Garbha Griha to the finial (which is a point) is the Shikara (Gopura) . This curved form is identified in modern times as the step-pyramid. The Shikara normally refers to the superstructure of the sanctum sanctorum and is the most important part of the temple. The dome (Stupi or Kalasa) is mounted on the Shikara. The Juathaskambam is the very first and the tallest pillar we notice in the temple entrance.

The science behind these constructions is that, the temple architecture gives cosmic energy to the main deity in the Garbha Griha.

Firstly, the Juathaskambam acts like an antenna and receives the cosmic energy from the space and through an underground channel it is connected to the main deity in the Garbha-graha. The cosmic energy constantly flows through the Jathuskambam to the idol and energies the it.

Secondly, the celestial power drawn through the dome gives the deity effulgence and metaphysical powers. The cosmic-energy is further maintained by sound waves (Vedic chants) and the pyramid like tomb. The pyramid like structure helps to amplify and preserve the cosmic energy.

These are the reasons for anyone to feel a positive energy, goodness, calmness or divinity when we approach the inner sanctum.

The deity is washed with various materials (milk, sandal paste, oil) to maintain the idols. The deity is decorated with flowers and ornaments for psychological and visual boost. But the various postures of the deity (sitting/standing, number of hands, weapons they hold) do have significance in emitting the cosmic energy.

Thus the temples serve as the scientific space to receive the shower of cosmic energy or God’s blessings. We hope after reading this when you enter a temple you will scientifically appreciate our culture and rituals and rear our next generation with proper scientific explanation instead of insisting them to follow our rich heritage blindly.

சபரிமலை : ஆனி மாத பூஜைகள் முடிந்து, நேற்று சபரிமலை நடை அடைக்கப்பட்டது. கன மழையையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல், ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்கள் சபரிமலையில் திரண்டு சுவாமி தரிசனம் செய்தனர். கேரளாவில் பிரசித்திப் பெற்ற சபரிமலை அய்யப்பன் கோயிலில் ஒவ்வொரு மாதமும் மாத பூஜை, உற்சவம் போன்றவற்றிற்காக நடை திறக்கப்படுவது வழக்கம். அதேபோல், 10ம் தேதி மாலை அய்யப்ப விக்ரக பிரதிஷ்டா தினத்தை ஒட்டி நடை திறக்கப்பட்டது. மறுநாள் பிரதிஷ்டா தின உற்சவம் நடந்தது. அன்றிரவு நடை அடைக்கப்பட்டது. ஆனி மாத பூஜைக்காக சபரிமலை நடை 15ம் தேதி மாலை 5.30 மணிக்கு திறக்கப்பட்டது. மறுநாள் காலை கணபதி ஹோமத்துடன் துவங்கிய வழக்கமான பூஜைகளில் நெய் அபிஷேகம், சந்தன அபிஷேகம் ஆகியவையும் நடந்தது. மேலும், சகஸ்ர கலச பூஜையும், அபிஷேகமும் மூலவருக்கு செய்விக்கப்பட்டது. இது தவிர, நேர்த்திக்கடன் சிறப்பு பூஜைகளாக படி மற்றும் உதயாஸ்தமன பூஜைகள் நடந்தது. கேரளாவில் பலத்த மழை பெய்து வருகிறது. இருப்பினும் அதை பொருட்படுத்தாமல் சுவாமி தரிசனத்திற்கு ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்கள் சபரிமலையில் திரண்டு தரிசனம் செய்தனர். ஆனி மாத பூஜைகள் முடிந்து, நேற்று இரவு 10 மணிக்கு நடை அடைக்கப்பட்டது. மீண்டும் ஆவணி மாத பூஜைக்காக, கோயில் நடை அடுத்த மாதம் (ஜூலை) 16ம் தேதி மாலை 5.30 மணிக்கு திறக்கப்படும். மாத மற்றும் சிறப்பு பூஜைகளுக்குப் பின், 21ம் தேதி இரவு 10 மணிக்கு நடை அடைக்கப்படும்.

ஸ்ரீரங்கம் கோவிலில் பக்தர்கள் பயன்படுத்துவதற்காக 2 பேட்டரி கார்கள்

திருச்சி, ஜூன். 20-

பேட்டரி கார்கள் நடந்து செல்ல முடியாத வயதானவர்கள் மற்றும், உடல் ஊனமுற்றவர்கள் உள் பிரகாரங்களுக்கு செல்வதற்கு பயன்படுபவை ஆகும். ஒரு பேட்டரி காரில் 12 இருக்கைகளும் (சீட்) இன்னொரு காரில் 6 இருக்கைகளும் இருந்தன. இதில் 6 இருக்கைகள் கொண்ட பேட்டரி கார் முதல்- அமைச்சர் ஜெயலலிதா கோவிலுக்கு நன்கொடையாக வழங்கியது ஆகும்.

Thank you for your suggestion, initially i realized that things,but i regret to say we cant correct your suggested names, bcoz people may clash about religions which God is higher or our holy place only beautiful bla.....bla..... that's y i avoided those kind of things.

Its not that i didnt know. suggested alternative thread, as i am sure there are couple here who will come and pass some comments and trigger reactions. better to avoid.

But as you said and other said, this thread can stand on its own. when discussed from aspects of architectural marvel, the sculptures, the area they cover,how they change the economy of a place, which all kings added which portion, the method of building these temples, evolution and difference in manner of construction over periods, many such things can be studied, as temples are the early skyscrapers of India.

திருப்புத்தூர் : திருப்புத்தூர் திருத்தளிநாதர் சமேத சிவகாமி அம்மன்,யோக பைரவர் கோயில் கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடந்தது. விழாவில் ஏராளமானோர் பங்கேற்றனர். கடந்த ஜூன் 17ம் தேதியன்று யாகசாலை பூஜை துவங்கியது. பிள்ளையார்பட்டி பிச்சைக்குருக்கள் தலைமையில் 85 சிவாச்சாரியார்கள் யாக சாலையில் பூஜையை மேற்கொண்டனர். நான்காவது நாளான நேற்று காலை 5 மணிக்கு பூஜை துவங்கியது. நேற்று காலை 9.15 மணிக்கு சிவாச்சாரியார்கள் யாகசாலையிலிருந்து புனித நீர் அடங்கிய கலசங்களுடன் 11 விமானங்கள்,இரண்டு ராஜகோபுரத்திற்கு சென்றனர். காலை 9.59 மணிக்கு திருத்தளிநாதர் திருக்கற்றாளியின் விமானத்தில் இருந்த குன்றக்குடி ஆதீனம் பொன்னம்பல அடிகள் கொடியினை அசைக்க,வாத்தியங்கள் ஒலிக்க, திருத்தளிநாதர் விமான நாற்கர கலசத்தில் பிச்சைக்குருக்கள் புனித நீரால் குடமுழுக்காடினார். அதே நேரத்தில் பிற விமான,கோபுர கலசங்களுக்கும் சிவாச்சாரியார்களால் கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடந்தது. காலை 8 மணி முதலே பக்தர்கள் திரளாக கோயிலுக்கு வந்திருந்தனர். திருவாடுதுறை ஆதீனம் சிவப்பிரகாச தேசிக சுவாமி, துளாவூர் ஆதீனம், இந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறை அமைச்சர் சண்முகநாதன், வணிகவரி, பத்திரப்பதிவுத்துறை அமைச்சர் கோகுலஇந்திரா,முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் பெரியகருப்பன், எம்.எல்.ஏ.,க்கள் சோழன் பழனிச்சாமி, விஜயபாஸ்கர், முன்னாள் எம்.எல்.ஏ.,க்கள் உமாதேவன்,கற்பகம், அருணகிரி, பூமாயி அம்மன் கோயில் அறங்காவலர் தங்கவேல், ஆ.பி.சீ.அ.கல்லூரி செயலர் ராமேஸ்வரன், அறநிலையத்துறை ஆஸ்தான ஸ்தபதி முத்தையா,ஆந்திர மாநில முன்னாள் ஆஸ்தான ஸ்தபதி கணபதி, டி.எஸ்.பி.முருகேசன், அறநிலையத்துறை அதிகாரிகள் உள்ளிட்ட பலர் பங்கேற்றனர். நேற்று முன்தினம் நடந்த யாகசாலை பூஜையில் மத்திய அமைச்சர் சிதம்பரம், ரத்தினகிரி பாலமுருகனடிமை சுவாமி, மதுரை ஆதீனம்,திருப்பனந்தாள் சுவாமி உள்ளிட்ட பலர் பங்கேற்றனர். ஏற்பாடுகளை குன்றக்குடி திருவண்ணாமலை ஆதீனத்தார் செய்திருந்தனர்

சிதம்பரம், ஜூன் 19: சிதம்பரம் மேலவீதியில் ரூ. 30 லட்சம் செலவில் கட்டப்பட்டுóள்ள ஸ்ரீசிறைமீட்ட விநாயகர் கோயில் மகா கும்பாபிஷேகம் ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை காலை 10.30 மணிக்கு வெகு சிறப்பாக நடபெற்றது. ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்கள் கும்பாபிஷேக விழாவில் பங்கேற்று வழிப்பட்டனர்.

கும்பாபிஷேகத்தை முன்னிட்டு தில்லைவாழ் அந்தனர்கள் என அழைக்கப்படும் நடராஜர் கோயில் பொதுதீட்சிதர்களால் சனிக்கிழமை காலை விக்னேஸ்வரபூஜையுடன் யாகசாலை பூஜை தொடங்கி நடைபெற்றது.

ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை காலை 10.30 மணிக்கு தி.குருமூர்த்தி தீட்சிதர் தலைமையில் பொதுதீட்சிதர்கள் கும்பத்துக்கு கலசநீரை ஊற்றி கும்பாபிஷேகம் செய்து தீபாராதனை காட்டினர். இதனை ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்கள் வழிப்

பட்டனர்.

விழாவை முன்னிட்டு அ.அறிவொளி எழுதிய விநாயகர்அகவல் வடமொழி மந்திர விளக்கம் என்ற நூல் வெளியிட்டு அனைவருக்கும் வழங்கப்பட்டது. கோயில் நிர்வாகி எஸ்.ஆர்.பாலசுப்பிரமணியன் நூலை வெளியிட முதல் பிரதியை கே.வி.பார்த்தசாரதி பெற்றுக்கொண்டார். பின்னர் பக்தர்களுக்கு அன்னதானம் வழங்கப்பட்டது.

விழா ஏற்பாடுகளை கோயில் நிர்வாகிகள் எஸ்.ஆர்.பாலசுப்பிரமணியன், கே.வி.பார்த்தசாரதி, எஸ்.சூரியநாராயணன், எம்.சுந்தரமூர்த்தி ஆகியோர் செய்திருந்தனர்.

காரைக்கால், ஜூன் 19: திருநள்ளாறு ஸ்ரீ தர்பாரண்யேசுவரர் கோயிலில் புதிதாக ரூ. 65 லட்சத்தில் உருவான தங்க ரிஷப வாகனம் முதன்மை நன்கொடையாளரான கர்நாடக முதல்வர் எடியூரப்பா மற்றும் புதுவை முதல்வர் என். ரங்கசாமி முன்னிலையில் வெள்ளோட்டம் நடத்த வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக காத்திருக்கிறது.

காரைக்கால் மாவட்டம், திருநள்ளாறு ஸ்ரீ தர்பாரண்யேசுவரர் கோயிலில் உள்ள மரத்தால் செய்யப்பட்ட ரிஷப வாகனம் சுவாமி வீதியுலாவுக்கு பல ஆண்டு காலமாக பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இந்த ரிஷப வாகனத்துக்கு மாற்றாக தங்கத்தாலான ரிஷப வாகனம் செய்ய கோயில் நிர்வாகம் முடிவு செய்தது. இதற்கு தேவையான நிதியை பக்தர்களிடமிருந்து நன்கொடையாக பெற முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டது.

இந்நிலையில், கடந்த ஆண்டு இக் கோயிலுக்கு தரிசனம் செய்ய வந்த கர்நாடக முதல்வர் எடியூரப்பா, தங்க ரிஷப வாகனம் செய்ய கர்நாடக அரசின் சார்பில் ரூ. 40 லட்சம் அளித்தார். மேலும், கூடுதல் நிதி மற்ற நன்கொடையாளர்கள் மூலம் வசூலிக்கப்பட்டு வாகனம் தயார் செய்யப்பட்டது.

கடந்த 5 மாதங்களாக நடைபெற்று வந்த இப் பணி ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை மாலை முடிவடைந்தது. மரத்தாலான வாகனத்தில் செப்புத்தகடு மற்றும் வெள்ளித்தகடு பதிக்கப்பட்டு, மெருகேற்றப்பட்ட (பாலீஷ்) தங்கத் தகடு அதன் மேல் பதிக்கப்பட்டு வாகனம் தயார் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

தங்க ரிஷப வாகனம் மொத்த மதிப்பு ரூ. 65 லட்சம். இதில் 2 கிலோ தங்கம், 25 கிலோ வெள்ளி மற்றும் செப்புத் தகடு பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
