New Rollercoaster at Wonderland!

So next year there will be a new rollercoaster at Canada's Wonderland!

The countdown to the announcement can be seen here:

Countdown until the announcement

and on top of that, construction has already started:

The rumours on the internet is that this coaster will have a 300 foot drop which would place it as one of the top coasters in the world.

Building something like this so soon after the Behemoth ride would really put Wonderland on the map as one of the top theme parks in North America. Let's hope the rumours of the type of coaster are true!

so....... you guys hyped or what?

Wow, sounds awesome. Could be a Kingda Ka type of coaster?

As long as it's not a stand-up rollercoaster like skyrider, this should be epic!

It better not be some dinky, ass rollercoaster, like "The Fly".

This actually surprises me. I didn't think Wonderland would even consider thinking of building another big rollercoaster, when they just opened up "Behemoth" just a couple years ago.

Plus I didn't think the park had any room for another rollercoaster.

Wonderland has plenty of room for another coaster. I believe they also own the empty field to the north.

And it must be a huge ride if the editor of Amusement Today is saying if he could only go on one ride all year, this would be the one. That's a big endorsement.

The empty field north of Major Mac? That's the future site of York Central Hospital's Vaughan Campus.

If you check wonderland through Google Maps/Earth there are 3 large parcels of land north of Major Mac...with a direct road connection to the Canada's Wonderland parking lots.

Maybe they own one of those lots, possibly the one furthest west?

Another thought ... maybe it is time to consider building elevated parking over the existing lots and maybe using the north parking lot (where the tour buses hang out) for an expansion?

Cheers, m

Steel rebar on site has tags attached to it saying "GIGA COASTER CAPS". Looks like we're getting a 300 footer!!! That would make it the 4th Giga coaster in the world, 3rd in North America.

You might be correct. King's Dominion built a giga coaster in roughly the same footprint:

http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=37.83...086,-77.438942

If that is the case, Wonderland is going to get a hell of a coaster!

From what I recall of local paper, they bought the entire area, it would be necessary if they want to build something on the scale of Brampton hospital

Sounds like I've got something to check out on Saturday, maybe even tomorrow after work... Been on the new Windseeker and while its nice, it doesn't really offer a lot of "thrill" factor.

At least it will be close by for when I come off this coaster.

Seriously tho, this is really great for Wonderland, they're about to hit a whole new level.

Cheers, m

Looks as though they are building it to intertwine with the Dragon Fyre. I thought Bohemeth was a Giga. Or is it just a Mega?

Wonderland used to own land to the North, South and on the West side of the 400. I think they've sold most of it. Wonderland is huge and they have plenty of room to ad many more rides if they want as is. Keep in mind they could always build a parking structure and free up even more space.

A rumour started by somebody in London years ago with no truth to it.

^i doubt they would be making the 3 largest rides in the park in a 4 year time period if they were planning just to move the park.
