Walk Bayswater to Primrose Hill

On Saturday my girlfriend and I took advantage of the sunshine (seems like the beginning of Spring?) to walk from my place in Bayswater to Primrose Hill. If I had intended to make a thread, I would have taken pictures of everything attractive we passed through, eg Little Venice, St John's Wood High Street, or the incredibly charming La Ville Cafe that hangs suspended over the Regent's Canal (though I did take a picture of the breakfast we ate there, see below). I actually post this as an example of what makes a city charming and attractive as a rebuff to a friend who is lionising concrete Shenzhen, and has imo forgotten what makes a nice city. Anyway here you are...

Handsome Victorian mansion block overlooking the Regent's Canal near Little Venice and La Ville Cafe Cafe.

Unusual mock-Tudor apartment block in Maida Vale/St John's Wood area.

Eggs Benedict at the charming Laville Cafe that hangs over the Regent's Canal. I regret not taking photos of the cafe itself, but you can get an idea here.

An aspen? A silver birch?? Help me out tree lovers!

Not all 60s or 70s blocks of flats are grim council estates. There are quite a few like this in the backstreets of St John's Wood.

There are some very handsome houses along the canal as it enters Regent's Park. Imagine having a garden party here!

A nice detail on one of the houses.

Another nice garden party venue.

A vaguely gothic-styled house.

Another grand Victorian mansion block. There are loads of these in this area.

People form part of the skyline at Primrose Hill.

I'm cheating because I actually took this a few days earlier.

Home via Regent's Park.

Love the mansion houses, high density living at its best.

The eggs benedict looks pretty tempting too...

Lovely pics Langur! This is the great aspect to London. There are a myriad of little known backwaters which conceal buildings which in other Cities would be regarded as excellent and interesting yet in the expanse of London are cosseted away.

Hopefully you take the camera on your walks more often

Nice photo's - there's something very distinctive about London's wonderful red/white Victorian blocks.

By the way, the tree is a birch.
