BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PORT

The national Port of Pasacao serves most of the seaborne cargoes bound for or from the province of Camarines Sur. Just 27 kilometers southwest of Naga City, it ordinarily caters to such goods as cement, rice, sugar, fish, and other prime commodities.

The national Port of Pasacao serves most of the seaborne cargoes bound for or from the province of Camarines Sur. Just 27 kilometers southwest of Naga City, it ordinarily caters to such goods as cement, rice, sugar, fish, and other prime commodities.

Location Latitude 13o 30’N Longitude 123o 02’E.

Port Limits

The port is located some 10 kilometers from the main highway and about 1 kilometer west of the town proper. Pasacao lies near the head of a cove bounded on the southwest by the Bondoc Peninsula and the Burias Island. It is about 30 kilometers from Naga City.

Climatological Condition

The municipality belongs to the fourth distinct type of climate. Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year with northeast monsoon prevailing in the area. The general direction of the wind is characteristically from north to east from October to January and from east to southeast from February to April and easterly from May to September. The area is relatively dry from December to May and wet for the rest of the year.

Berthing Area/s Consists of a 9m wide reinforced concrete pier 58m long on piles

Draft Controlling Draft at MLLW is 3 meters

RORO Facilities RORO ramp and R.C. platform V-type rubber fenders supplemented by tires allowing closer berthing.

Anchorage

The cove is about one mile in extent, but the shore is fringed by a reef with sand and mud over it. The anchorage is in 3 to 5 fathoms (5.5 to 9.1m), mud bottom, but is exposed to the southwest winds. At times, a choppy sea sets which makes landing on the beach thru the surf dangerous.

Water Supply Water is delivered through road tankers or pipelines by the Pasacao Water District

Fuel Supply Fuel being delivered through lorries owned by Shell

Garbage Collection/Disposal Collection of garbage by LGU Pasacao done weekly

Ship Repair Facilities Ship repair and maintenance services available at Mayon Docks, Tabaco, Albay.

Provision and Store Available in limited quantities from local suppliers.

Telephone/telefax services are provided by the General Telephone System, INC. (GTSI), Bayantel, Unitel and Telecom. Likewise, mobile phone users can enjoy GLOBE, & SMART’s optimum signal within the port.

Medical The nearest banks are located at Naga City

Banking Government and private banks are available at the city proper.

Airport

The nearest airport is located at Pili, Camarines Sur approximately 40 km. from the port. There is one regular flight daily to and from Manila.

Most international cargo vessels are calling at the private port of Bescom, many of which are tramping vessels.

Domestic Liners

Regular callers are vessels operated by Milagros J. Shipping Corp. Most cargo vessels are tramping.

GETTING INTO CARAMOAN FROM METRO MANILA

The trip starts in the evening at around 8:30pm to 9:00pm from Cubao Bus Terminal. The first step is to get to Naga City(or Pili Airport if you fly). The trip would take about 8 hours so it’s not advisable to travel with an empty stomach. From Naga City Central Bus Terminal the next direction is to go to Sabang Port by taking either an aircon van (Filcab) or jeepney. Travel would be a litte over 1hr and the fare is 100 pesos. Then from Sabang Port off to Caramoan Guijalo Port by taking a boat ride for almost 2hours at 120 pesos fare.

It’s your option to catch a bus from Cubao Bus Terminal that goes straight to Caramoan via NATO Port (instead of Sabang Port) in Naga. Penafrancia bus fare is 850 pesos and this excludes RORO vessel regular fee of 150 pesos (or higher if you take the aircon accommodation of the vessel) and there’s another 15 pesos for the town fee.
If you missed to take your breakfast, no worries, the vessel has a small canteen that serves cup noodles at an instant for 30 pesos! And if your mobile phone battery is almost dying you can sneak at the TV outlet near the canteen with no questions asked.

Motorized boats are the primary transportation to/from Caramoan Island

We actually anticipated for boats docked near the beach where passengers are to be carried atop the shoulder of the porter. The scene was different, probably because it's high tide that boats can dock and take passengers in the main port itself which is on the other side and opposite of the beach.

The town center or "Centro" of Caramoan is 20 minutes from Guijalo Port. You can rent a habal-habal, tricycle or multicab depending on the number of persons in your group. In our case, Kuya Boknoy has already arranged a tricycle under RiverView Vacation Inn Caramoan where we were staying.
