2013 Election. Preferred Prime Minister.

Not necessarily asking about your political preferences, more who you could actually stomach as tthe Prime Minister.

Fair to say both major parties have leaders that polarize the electorate. There are a huge number of diehard Labor voters who are opposed to Gillard, just as their are as many Liberal voters who cant stomach the thought of Abbott as PM.

If you are a Labor supporter are you happy to vote for them with Gillard in charge? Would you like to see a return of Rudd thinking he can pick up where he left off? Or do you see another viable alternative there?

The same goes for the Libs? Would you be comfortable with Abbott as Prime Minister or are you hoping for Turnbulls camp to stage a coup before the election? Or once again do you see a third Liberal MP who could credible run for office?

Myself I've got no idea who I would vote for and I expect to change my mind a million times over the next seven months. Being honest, I've voted Labour all but once since I could vote in my first election was back in 1991, Hawke, Keating, Beazley, Rudd have all gotten my support. Libs got my tick at the last election and that was a protest vote against the Labor leadership transition.

I dont consider myself a staunch Labour supporter anymore, if anything I see them as a party who've spent the last decade floundering from crisis to crisis with leaders who've struggled to keep order. While I have to admire Gillards staying power when she's been written off so many times I don't actually like her, dont trust her and want to see her ousted. Sounds petty I know but I'm just being honest. While I want to vote Labour I definately will not vote for them with her as leader.

As for the right I'm mixed in my views. I can see Abbott being an effective leader but it's obvious to me he would not be popular. Turnbull seems to have the charisma and I'ts no secret some in the party believe he's an attractive alternative. Also suggesting that with him at the helm he may sway a large chunk of disaffected Labor supporters.

What's your thoughts?

If I bother to turn up I will be drawing and ticking a box and writing "none of these fuckers above". I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I help give any of them votes.

Actually, you just reminded me of them. Voted for them last time because I like sex, so I may as well again. Cheers for the tip!

Liberal under Turnbull. But if the option is Abbott, I'd rather Labor under Gillard. Abbott is surely the worst PM candidate since John Howard. Get these conservatives out of the Liberal Party and return it to true Liberals like Fraser and Turnbull.

Still a better option than Greens or Labor or Liberal under Abbott.

Labor under Gillard. I think we need to keep the rfeorms they are putting in place, NBN and CT, and Gonski but then after the reforms are here to stay, I am ok to hand it back to Libs to make sure we can pay for them. But I just wont vote Libs if Abbott is leader, as I dislike social conservatism and religious ideals.

Well, if I was voting in a presidential election this would be a pain. But really, I've got a choice between one Gary Gray (Beazley's successor) and Ind Carol Adams and some anonymous Lib.

I'm not going to vote for or against one of that mob simply because I have issues with the boss.

I totally agree with Milan Luka's original post/points here.

I cannot bring myself to vote for either Gillard or Abbott and will definitely not be wasting my vote on the Greens again (as I did last time in the hope of gay marriage influence).

I'll probably vote Liberal however, as i'm sick of Labor's economic incompetence, waste and kowtowing to malign Union influences.

I actually would prefer this guy, he has a "face" for being a prime minister.

Yes, Turnbull is a bit of a DILF - but his biggest issue is that there is an increasing gap between his 'Wentworthian' politics and the Coalition itself, which is getting more comfortable with Tea Party style politics which wouldn't accommodate a moderate like Turnbull.

All the more reason to hope he takes the helm of the Libs, get someone to reverse that Tea Party course again...

The Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP) Party, which is based out of Nimbin in northern NSW didn't contest the 2010 federal election since they didn't re-apply for party registration in time for it to be processed. I really hope they will lay off their own merchandise so that they can get the application in on time for this years election.

Abbott is a good quality Tyke who will get the job done, and this is coming from a swinging voter.
Labor run a real risk of being routed here in the traditional heartlands of Newcastle and the Hunter.
Labor would be better off rebuilding with young guns of my vintage like Tony Burke.

You already know my position on "safe" seats and that the best thing that could happen to Newcastle would be for it to become marginal rather than blind guaranteed Labor. If Labor loses any of the heartland Newcastle seats they will do anything to get them back!
