Wah it took me a long time to realize my error and that a reply was posted...
I meant that finally someone decided to do something creative in Singapore, not necessarily by a Singaporean... By the way they removed the ads already... |

I just find the design of the NEL stations generally more liberating than the older ones. My foreign friend was particularly impressed with the ground prints at Dhoby Ghaut

Contrast the NEL Trains & Stations with the those on the older Lines. The Platform Screen Doors, interior finishes, train design (black, sleek with sharp edged windows) all look better. Even the Train acoustics and the announcements sound better. It feels as though you are travelling on the London Underground. ''HarbourFront Terminal...Please Mind The Gap...Thank You For Travelling With SBS Transit''.

Although it is hard to hear the announcements on the older lines as the sound of the train overwhelms everything else. |

anyone thinks the gap in nel are bigger than the older lines?
anyway, i agree very much that our older lines feel better than their new jubilee line. comparing the mrt to the tube is like comparing peaches to dirty trampled raisins. |

The only reason why I compared the NEL to the London Underground is because on both systems, the ''Please Mind The Gap'' is replayed over and over again like as if we don't know that...
Otherwise, I don't really see any other system in the world that can match the NEL in terms of interior design... Subways around the way tend to stick to grey seats in the trains which because they are usually made of metal of sorts, reminds you of the operating table and that is kinda yucky... |

the jubilee line as i remember do look like bare concrete tubes, but the effect is quite beautiful. i dont think there's much nel's interior is much to scream about. in fact i'm quite irked by the colour scheme in the train and design of some stations.

The tubes in London dont use fibreglass seats, their seats are upholstered and the interior of the Jubilee trains feel quite cheerful although not as spacious as the MRT.
However some of their stations at Canary Wharf and Westminster have quite dramatic designs. |

oh i meant the stations were quite pretty, not the trains. the trains look like kiddy toys but are actually evil furnaces (to me) while nel trains are ummmm something else.

I like the aircon on the MRT, especially the NEL. I wish the older ones were a bit colder.
In London during winter, the heated carriages are nice (but the older ones just dirty) |

I have a small video clip of the NEL train ride but I have no idea on how to post it online.
The NEL air conditioning is definitely great, it does not have mood swings. The seats are wide, just the way I like it and the trains are not as crowded. I like the interiors...I just hate seeing countries all around the world adopting grey aluminium seats and grey colour schemes...everything looks like an operating theatre, so sanitised, very spooky... |

NEL has that cheerfulness un-subway look and yet it has the next best train interior/exterior to the Copenhagen one... |
