The 29th is good for me, just choose a place and time Mark.
I'll definitely be going to the Designing Melbourne's Skyline on the 14th at Fed Square as well. So, I'll probably see you there Blabby and Goondocker.

29th ok for me atm, as always though this can change. Somewhere warm, not pretentious and must serve beer. I don't care if it is open for the youngin's or not, they never show anyway. The last place we ended up at last time after R was ok, but it would be busy early on I think.

If anyone were willing to pay for an airfare or train fare for me to come down that weekend, I would so be there
![]() But that's ok... 'cause I'll be down there permanently as of the end of September anyway, so plenty more time for more Melb meets .

Also on the topic of design, there's a program on Melbourne's 3RRR (102.7) Tuesday nights 7-8pm called The Architects.
The hosts are architects and they discuss newly completed and proposed projects in Melbourne from the architect's viewpoint. http://www.rrr.org.au/onair.php?pid=78

Yeah one of the guys Stuart Harrison is my History 2 lecturer and the other guy's from BKK who designed the Wrap House in Toorak (gave us a lecture on it in tech) and also the Westgate memorial, his name's Simon Knott (I think). Stuey was actually on the panel when I had to do my interview to get into RMIT. All we talked about was Star Wars and the cricket. Great guy.

Designing Melbourne’s skyline
Since I attended this lecture last night, a review should be given: John Gollings – Photographer, put together an interesting talk with a slide show but his delivery was lacking. In other words he needs training to speak publicly. Davina Jackson – Architecture writer, was the worst speaker of the lot. Her talk came across sounding as if it was put together in the taxi on the way to Fed Square from the airport. Davina, it is 9/11 not 7/11. Those who were there last night know what I’m on about. Hamish Lyon – Senior Designer, with a slide show was easily the best speaker of the lot and touched on some interesting concepts. Che Wall – Green Building Council Director, a good talker who you wish had a bigger say in the Melbourne planning process. Summing it all up, a good lecture but could have been much better. By the way, the 8 Exhibition Street Building was mentioned a couple of times as being a badly designed addition to our skyline. Silvermb, Blabbyboy, Tayser and I should all feel vindicated! p.s. Joed, I saw you there, but obviously didn’t get a chance to talk to you, so I apologize. Did anyone else go? |

I think you're both referring to the Royal Melbourne Hotel.
Not a bad venue, but all the tap beer was from the Tooheys stable last time I was there (which would be disastrous if it didn't include Becks )
