Projects in smaller cities

Not sure where to put these projects:

Deenadayal City Mall, Gwalior

More info at http://www.arggroupjaipur.com/html/citymall.htm

The total built-up area, comprising the lower basement, basement, and the ground, first and second floors, is expected to add up to 2,25,000 sq. ft. The building will house more than 150 outlets consisting of kiosks, showrooms, bazaars, restaurants and anchor stores. They will range in size from 80 sq. ft to 30,000 sq. ft, covering just about every activity, including retail, services, entertainment and food and beverages.

Sahara begins construction of Sahara City Homes at Gwalior

http://www.saharahousing.com/gwalior300505.asp

The Sahara City Homes township at Gwalior, spread over 108.20 acres of land with 3579 houses will be a hub for all the assured facilities of security, health, education, well-connected transport and communication. The residential township will have a unique mix of high-rise apartments, mid-rise apartments, independent row houses, independent semi-detached houses and independent Bunglows. It will also have a fully developed infrastructure with an easy access to all the basic amenities providing leisure and happiness. Perhaps one can get an idea of the magnitude by considering that it will provide to its residents a lush green environment, well-lit wide metalled roads, water features, integrated landscaping and special light effects in townships.

Siliguri

http://www.telegraphindia.com/105100...ry_5312828.asp

After Calcutta, Siliguri will be the next information technology hub in West Bengal.

Laying the foundation stone of the Siliguri Software Technology Park opposite the Uttorayon township at Chandmoni, IT minister Manab Mukherjee said: “The decision to open this park was taken in Calcutta at a meeting with my colleague Asok Bhattacharya. The park will be functional by December,” he assured.

Construction for the office of the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) has already begun even though the foundation stone was laid today.

IT parks had come up in Durgapur, Kharagpur while Haldia would follow suit.

But the north Bengal centre was better placed to flourish as an industry. Nasscom chief Kiron Karnik listed some of the reasons:

* Siliguri’s geographical proximity to Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and even southeast Asian countries was a major advantage

* A good functional airport, with links to all the international airports in the country

* A suitable climate, almost similar to Bangalore

* Low cost of living compared to other centres

* Availability of human resources with a comparatively better knowledge of English, especially among Hill students.

A huge new Tata Town!

http://www.telegraphindia.com/105100...ry_5313236.asp

Townships accompanying large industrial projects may not be in fashion as much as in the days before liberalisation, but the Tatas will build another Jamshedpur.

Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda announced today that Tata Steel had chosen the spot — Tontoposhi, around 30 km west from here — to set up the country’s largest integrated steel plant of 12 million tonnes. Just as in Jamshedpur, there, too, a township will come up, spread over 10,000 acres.

A Tata Steel official said: “The company has always been shouldering its corporate social responsibility. We shall provide our employees at the new plant with housing and other facilities. That is precisely the reason we are looking for over 10,000 acres.”

Townships that are coming up now are designed as real estate projects — unconnected to industry — developed by the government or privately.

Unlike in the Nehru-Indira Gandhi days, when the public sector and some private companies took upon themselves the task of building infrastructure around their area of operation, it is now the government that is expected to perform the role.

Tontoposhi, the site chosen, has no infrastructure to support industrial activity.

Tata Steel sources said the company picked Tontoposhi because it is close to two railway stations, Gamharia and Sini. Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers pass through the area, providing a source of water for the plant.

Munda said: “Most of the area falls under either government or raiyati (private) land.” Tontoposhi also happens to lie in his constituency.

The Tatas kicked off a week of action Jharkhand in its short life has not seen before. Steel magnate L.N. Mittal is expected in Ranchi on October 8 to sign an agreement to set up a 12-million-tonne steel plant.

“Mittal has agreed to work here on our conditions,” Munda said. That should mean no iron ore export.

Destination JHARKHAND!

Well it seems, Jharkhand with several mega investments, will soon become a rich state, and that too in much shorter time than many other states.

^ I think the quality of the publicity ensures, that this project will get built! Good for Jaipur, as it is a city with some real wealth. There won't be any problem in selling space in this project!
