I don't know. I live just north of Los Angeles. I've been through Compton twice. Never been to NYC at all. But Compton does have the worst gang problem in the US and one of the highest murder rates anywhere in the US.

Actually, from a previous thread, it was shown that Gary, IN actually had the highest crime index. It's hard to put raw data with South Bronx, because unlike Compton, it isn't a seperate city in itself.

Nobody said Compton has the HIGHEST crime index. I said Compton has the worst gang problem (which is statistically true in every category) and ONE of the highest murder rates.

If anyone has some new ones, they should post them. The last time I was there was in 1999 and it really didn't look that much different. The thing that sticks out in my mind was when I saw a residential highrise with a fence around it, and people had been throwing garbage out of their windows and it was piling up against the building all the way to the fence. Not surprisingly, it smelled like a dump.

It's funny that you said the South Bronx makes Compton look nice. I agree. But thats exactly what can get people killed. Compton doesn't look nearly as bad as ghettos on the east coast but I can bet it's crime rate, specifically it's murder rate is higher than 90% of the places that look worse than it does. Looks can be deceiving.

This thread contains some of the worst gramar I have ever read. I understand that it's the internet and it doesn't need to be "formal," but come on! Have you people heard of punctuation, tense, syntax... or even spelling, for that matter?! Your respective points might be more clearly understood if you typed them in complete sentences.

^That is classic. It's always funny when someone tries correcting someone else for their GRAMMAR mistakes but then is wrong themselves. You spelled GRAMMAR wrong.

LOL.... OMG I am so embarrassed! I looked at that like three times after he replied to it and couldn't see what I did. Duh! First of all, obviously I know how to spell grammar because I spelled "grammatical" correctly. And secondly, there is a huge difference between mis-typing "grammar" and saying "people can said more deeply like that than answered for standard people," as one poster above did.

Thanks for pointing it out, though.
