Estonia/Tallinn/Lasnamäe commieblocks, 2

Dont't know how to begin... If you don't like these "blocked commies", just skip the thread, simple. You may not like them, but I like them so much that I think I had some kind of a mental stroke today when I photographed the most perfect views of Tallinn! :-) I can't believe I live in a city where such views are present...

I visited Lasnamäe more seriously first in 23.02.2006 when the workday was shorter because of some holiday next day. First 17 pictures are from that trip. I work in Kadriorg so Lasnamäe is quite near. Other 29 pics are done this morning 10.06.2006 (actually I made 97 pictures from Lasnamäe today, but...). I walked mostly the same ways again to get the pictures from fascinating and gorgeous views also in summertime.

Exactly the same view from today is also present in this thread.

These are new buildings in Valge street ("White" street).

This is a hint where I am located.

In the background there is a building addressed as Liikuri 10. Quite a massive one. Also present in today's pictures.

Silent and lonely buildings...

Liikuri 10 again. And in many other pictures.

New Valge street buildings from back. Thay really are white as the street name -- I just discovered!

Evening comes, the sun goes down and commies fall asleep.

A new "commieblock" in the left. Sad it has just 5 stores. Why not 15?

I didn't go farther this day (23.02.2006), it was cold anyway and my hands were pretty hurt by cold and photographing :-) I am on the Võidujooksu bridge, the third one. Pae bridge can be seen.

New "commieblock" again.

That should be Pae 49.

Yes, summertime makes commieblock areas even more pleasant!

This is a duplicate picture done in Pallasti bridge, the second one (in Lasnamäe). Brilliant view!

That's done in Valge street. And there are some old 1-storey buildings from 40's or 50's in my back. Ugly enough to not picture them at all. But the view is nice from them.

Again the same new buildings in Valge street.

My favourite Liikuri 10 again. Thay have make the upper part better - that was grey in February.

Liikuri 10 from back.

Now the fascinating bridges and views come...

Excellent! And that's in Lasnamäe!

Now I reached to one of the greatest places in Lasnamäe (as much as I know so far, especially after today) -- the cross of Laagna tee and J. Smuuli tee. I think I got the beforementioned stroke somewhere in this area...

Very beautiful! In both directions.

Unbelievable...

I am on Pae bridge, and Smuuli bridge is the next forward.

One more picture of this great view.

Non-stop commie-block. Actually not, but that sounds great :-)

Interesting, who live in those top three flats? Very nice building.

From Smuuli bridge looking to the middle of Tallinn.

And views in another direction -- away from the middle Tallinn. This and next two views are the most beautiful ones I catched today...

There's a shopping centre ("Kotka"), a high building, many other buildings, nice street, stairs, bridge... just perfect!

Amazing amazing amazing...

Big thanks to soviet architects for so goodlooking views still present in Tallinn!

I thought that I end with Smuuli bridge (when moving along Laagna tee) and go forward along J. Smuuli street and then back, but Lindakivi bridge also seemed so tempting and I went there and shortly visited the Kotka shopping centre (market). And this is the view to next bridge, Härma bridge. I'll visit it and other Lasnamäe places nex time.

And finally a picture from Peterburg road over Lasnamäe and TV-tower. I was pretty tired and hungry and used bus to get back to the middle of the city. I measured later at home that I walked 10 km today making pictures of middle city and Lasnamäe.

btw, i had no idea the new building by the canal looked that nice from the front- i've only seen its back - that ugly bright light blue color, it really sucks.

thanks, echo for this tour! (:

Well, I can't wait the time they get the new high speed tramline built in the middle of the "Lasnamäe channel", that would be great addition to Lasnamäe and Tallinn . Just look on the pics of the "channel" and imagine high speed tram rushing in the middle

I forgot to add that deep house and techno in my earphones during the trip made the trip even more better. Btw, a highspeed tramline is also a possible idea for Sõpruse pst. (as I read from the paper Pealinn which appeared in my post box).
