Hungary

With this topic will I give a scant taste of a less known country, from my home. We are coming from East and we want going to West; for 500 years Hungary were a strong kingdom in Middle-Europe, with great leaders, kings, and generals. After the heyday, here foughted the Ottoman- and the Habsburg-, later the Nazi- and the Communist-empire with one another; frequently foughted the Hungarians to our freedom against them. Historical cities, beautyfull landscapes, and the culture of 1100 years, that will I show here.

Today is the feast of the statefounder king, I. Szt. István (St. Steven I.) He was the greatest leader of the hungarian history. Without him, Hungary remain in East and parish, like the other barbarian empires. On the horns of a dilemma, he guided the land in the direction of the West and the Christianity.

At first: this is Esztergom, the first seat of the kingdom. The palace was build in the late XIIth century, before there here stayed an another, less royal building.

there's a saying in Poland - "Polak, Węgier - dwa bratanki, i do bitki, i do szklanki", which means "A Pole and a Hungarian - two brothers". It has an origin in history - Louis I of Hungary, Stefan Batory, Revolution of 1848...

in Hungary: "Lengyel, magyar két jó barát, együtt vív és issza borát."

1440 - Vladislav (Ulászló) I on the Hungarian throne (1440-1444)

1490 - Vladislav (Ulászló) II on the Hungarian throne (1490-1516)

1576 - Stephen Bathory (Báthory István), Prince of Transylvania (1571-1586) and Polish king (1576-1586)

1848-49 - Revolution in Hungary (Jozef Zacharias Bem and Henryk Dembinski, the legendary polish generals of Hungarian army). Bem was fondly called "Bem apó" (Bem Papa).

General Jozef Bem:

1939 - Polish refugees (15.000) in Hungary (in Lengyeltóti near Balaton, which means "Polish Tóti").

1956 - Revolution in Hungary (The immediate catalyst for the revolution were the unrests in Poland).

I thought Hungary and Germany were actually allies during WWII. This is funny how fast history is forgotten.

Hungary was forced in that alliance, not to mention our country was occupied by Germany from 19th of March 1944... You must know our history before writing anything.
