Heritage: Nowshehra / Attock area

This old British-era building is located in Nowshehra. As you can see from the pictures, it is wonderfully crafted architecture and needs preservation and restoration. Currently it seems like the building is occupied by the Askari Commercial Bank and numerous other small merchants who obviously do not value this beautiful building.

These are pictures of the old fort at Attock that is extensively ruined and has been misused.

Another piece of heritage and history that is in need of preservation.

Many thanks to both of you to bring these pics to others attention. They sure need to be preserved.

I've a close relative from Nowshera, NWFP and according to him the local government supposedly allocated money many times for preservation of old bldgs and gurdwaras there but somehow the preservation never seem to materialize.
Well lets hope sooner than later someone will take care of preserving them.

Misused because the army is sitting on it?

If the army was not sitting on it they would not have preserved the fort. The reason they are sitting on it is because of Pasthun nationalism and the location is great on the bank of the Kabul. If you ask at the gate they will give you a tour around the building.

Thank the beautiful MMA government that is making disabled children sit on the sides of roads asking for money to build a ghost mosque.

The fort though is up for another repairing.

I've seen that awesome building in Nowshera... last time i was there it was a gigantic cinema hall with all these awful movie billboards on the front. It was noisy and dusty... it looks much better as a bank and without those billboards anymore

Moderators, can't we link this thread into City Galleries as stickies to save them for other members esp. new comers and future members.

City gallery has only few cities listed and perhaps should represent other prominent cities like Hyderabad, Sindh, Thatta, Taxila, Rawalpindi etc

We already lost Mirpur Khaas thread and some other important cities. Can they be reinstated?
