Tallinn/Winter edition

I was in Tallinn visiting Echo last weekend. I stayed in his beloved Mustamäe flat. We had a great time together and I took a load of pics of winterish Tallinn. Here they come

It is 6 45 AM yet in Tartu

Arriving the Capital. 9 00 AM in the Baltic station. I made my way straight to the Town Hall in Mere Puiestee via Rannamäe tee street.

Very nice building across the street

Where have all the children gone..?

St. Olaf

Nice row of defense towers as a part of city wall

Reached to the Town hall I really had to force myself to go upthere through the blizzard- It was awfully cold, so the pics from there are of lower quality

What a nice machine. Little iron(ic)deer struggling in the blizzard

Notice the blizzard. Having had the pic I ran away from there all the way till I found a shade behind the Mere Puiestee buildings. Union Bank is totally swallowed by Tornimäe

Facade of this building(Forum) almost completed.

Same building, the day after

Reaching the highrise district, I really love the colors of Radisson!

Looking up from the same point.

Radisson again, I was really happy because the sun showed up and I met echo.

What a great illumination of Postimehe maja from the reflection of tornimäe

The base of Radisson. After thet we made our way to the downtown border of Kadriorg.

The view to Raua street

The HQ of the Estonian Radio(ER) in Gonsiori street from behind. Nice commie, which needs a renovation.

Tornimäe above the VE Maja. It is Pronksi street, very nice view.

Union bank and the tiny Armenian Orthodox church between those glassy "giants"

Tornimäe and a tiny 12fl VE Maja again.

VE Maja- very nice

Lovely angle IMHO, echo in the left corner of the pic

It was hard for me to spot the Tornimäe, its size reached the limits of my camera

Just lovely

Nightshot from Sõpruse puiestee, we were on the way to supermarket to buy food.

In the trolley to the centre next morning

The TOP building in Pirita

And finally, the skyline from the TOP

Looks like you have some pretty cool and sleek highrises there.
I counted 4 or 5 in one of the photos above, would that be about right?
I am guessing that tornimae is the tallest one, does that mean twin towers or something? Also you mentioned the radisson SAS hotel, what are the others?
Very nice the last picture, looks like two different cities next to each other. Tallinn looks to me to be the most interesting of the three baltic capitals, no offense to the others.
Anyway thanks for showing

Right, I think I will have to go there myself to figure out which is which.

Tallinn still rocks, especially with all the snow! So white, so fluffy so wintry!

So here are some of my pics. It was cold outside so I didn't want to stay out for very long.
I started off from Merivälja:

Then I reached Pirita. Quite icy :

This is the monument for Michael Park(He was Markko Märtin's co-driver in World Rally Championship. He died in a crash in 2005):

And another monument.....for People with courage and will.(The translation is not the best, I know. In original: "Julgetele ja teotahtelistele inimestele")

Then I got to Kadriorg. Some new houses built quite close to each other

And a new house near the port.

The wall of the old town:

And the Toompea castle:

Then I went to see some (mostly) wooden houses near the old town:

This is the Kaarli church:

And the Royal Danish Embassy(sorry for the bad pic):

At the old town again:

:

Hansapank:

Hotell Olümpia:

You look these pics and think: No Tornimäe? .....Yes, because there are already sooo many pics about it....And....I didn't want to go to the center of the town with my bike.

Beautiful pics and a beautiful city. Too bad there's no snow here in Germany.

Another quite nice set!
http://www.foto24.ee/photo.php?photoID=389567

What do you mean SO CLOSE together!
Imo its a pretty wicked blend of "kadriorg style buildings" and dense quarter planning...

http://www.foto24.ee/photo.php?photoID=389583
Its not that new, half a decade old i think. Anyhow, its super ugly yeah.

I just meant that whoever is living in the center-located buildings there, will be watching into other people's windows every day....But Yes, i understand, the land there in Kadriorg is expensive so there is no other chance than building houses quite close to each other, otherwise it wouldn't pay off.

And if I remember correctly, they finished the superugly building in 2006.....But I may be wrong. I don't visit the port area so often.
