I found some pictures of clothing from ancient Persia, presumably from the Achaemenid period but I don't know how to place them in the post. If someone gives me instructions I will add them to the thread. Otherwise, if you go to the link, you'll find them clearly labeled but mixed in with Babylonian and Assyrian sketches.

Thanks for the instructions and starting this thread, Shugs. Those are wonderful pictures you provided.
Here are pictures of Achaemenid clothing. I wonder about the men's clothes. The noblemen seem to wear robes; the soldiers, robes with leggings, or tunics with leggings. Do you think the soldiers' robes are wrap-around things that separate when they ride or run? You would think that the active man would be inhibited by long skirts. The first noble looks like his "drapery" might be wrapped around each leg separately. Isn't it sweet the way he's holding hands and looking at his companion? ![]() ![]() ![]() Marcia Last edited by Marcialou; March 13th, 2007 at 04:12 AM. Reason: fix pics |

Here's another picture showing Achaemenid clothing for a King and Queen. It's an illustration or painting of the Biblical Book of Esther but unfortunately I can't find the link anymore. (I hate when that happens.)
I love the picture for the expressions on their faces (and the blank look of the guard in the background) and for the space between them that shows the art and architecture of the palace.
