The street car website has construction updates, and lots of info on the project and the possibility for expansion.

Yesterday I was on Denny and I saw the construction process on Denny and Westlake. I saw some orange sheets on the street and it looks like it covered the rail line.

It is maintained and operated by King County Metro Transit. You can use your pass or transfer to board the street car.

wow, it doesnt take long to build one of these lines... thats great, in time for Christmas... it would be good if we could get a city-wide system going... areas like fremont, ballard, montlake, wallingford, west seattle, queen anne, and others should be connected to downtown by another form of transportation besides buses...

Oh, that would be a dream come true. I do think we will see more lines in the future. I hope the Waterfront line comes back soon.

I think streetcars are best option for City of Seattle since monorail project failed. Light rail system is taking years to get completed. Streetcars are cheaper and faster to get built.

The streetcars are a great way to get up and down downtown via waterfront, but I'd have to say that a metro-wide system would not be effective. The purpose of streetcars just is not to serve a metropolitan area of almost four million people. While we have to sacrifice time and money and light rail, a train system is probably the most efficient.

I think that the waterfront streetcar line is excellent as it is, or perhaps a minor expansion maybe to Westlake, or through the Financial district is good. Maybe even to Seattle Center would be nice, but I don't think it would be any good past downtown.

I think we should have streetcars at Seattle's most dense neighborhoods including Belltown, Capital Hill, First Hill, Queen Anne, Lake Union, Denny Triangle, Fremont, University District and Ballard only. Few of them are in process. The rest of it should be good ideas just for now.

I work on the Fred Hutch campus and was hocked to see they hope to have it running by Christmas. We can't believe how long it has taken (8 months) just to get the segment in front of the campus, and it's not even done yet. It will be interesting to see how they handle the segment that will cross over Denny at Westlake. It's going to be a total nightmare for traffic, but worht the price by far in the long run.

I believe that they works on Denny and Westlake overnight where traffic will be less to make it easier to get it done.

I think it will neat to see, but still have trouble seeing the difference between a street car and a bus. They still run at street level, are subject to traffic tie-ups and signals, and will have the same clientele for the most part.

Streetcars are electric. I think Metro buses use disel fuel system.

I wonder if streetcars becoming very popular for Seattle and extend it to anywhere in Seattle area. It will replace buses just like at old times when trolleys got replaced by vehicles and buses?

There are still many trolley buses in service from University district to Seattle, Southeast Seattle and the routes list goes on. There's many articulated trolley buses along with 40 feet ones, too.

Yeah, I rather have a nice streetcar than a trolley bus, too bad streetcars can't go up steep hills, would have to install those counterweight systems to lift it up hill like the ones in SF.
