This is like a red rag to a bull VH....... I can tell you unreservedly which one is the worst by far in terms of height and overall shiteness verging on taking the piss ..... but I won't bother, save to say that the Lumiere is the one that takes ALL the plaudits. Eastgate is far too monolithic and it really should be a more inspired design than that overbearingly generic colossus Wayne Mellor has come up with here. It's too tall imo and completely out of keeping with its immediate surroundings. Ideally it should be 10 storeys shorter.

I never thought I'd give the first vote to a Simpson-designed tower (cos he's a bit of an arrogant tit as well), but there you have it.....

Eastgate is the only one that looks like a proper modernist skyscraper and is over 650ft tall - the height when mere towers become skyscrapers in my opinion.

The cladding on the other two appears risky. They'll either both look absolutely wonderful or absolutely hideous.

Eastgate is a real svelte beast and will crown Manchester's skyline with style and has the 'soar factor' that the others can only hope to match.

The cladding on Inacity/Eastgate ain't much better to be truthfully honest with you. And it's not going to be over 650 feet tall - 188 metres is 618 feet actually.

Mind you, I don't like the pedestrian slab form of Inacity either. And after witnessing Wayne Mellor and Ian Simpson's cloying backslapping antics at last December's Cube seminar in Manchester I secretly want this project to get cut down to size now as it stands just to piss him off!

Lumiere-its a different new look for Leeds along with the Criterion proposals rather than the 'Bridgwater' apartment samey looks proposals/constructions that are springing up in the city. I do have my reservations about the glass rendering though, I am concerned this will be a slab of glass, 171m tall and designed by Ian Simpson, its already conjuring awful images of a clone of another building in Manchester

Eastgate-A Supertall by UK standards but its merely three slabs of glass stacked together plus a bit uninspiring. The good thing though is that it will definitely look good on the Manc skyline with Beetham and compliment it even more by looking even duller.

V Tower- Awkward angle, not tall enough and too wide plus it's just the Hyatt with 70-80 meteres added on with a V shape on each of the sides without the reflective glass. Doesn't sit well with the Alpha Tower at all, its just shying away whereas the vision proposal was a million times better than this although looking a bit ancient now.

That's just my take, I know some of you won't agree.

It just occurred to me that V looks like a cross between the other 2

I voted Lumiere, but only because there are 2 of them

Love them all actually but ill have to stick to my loyalties on this one and also agree with biosonic, there are two of them in Lumiere and that great glass atrium at the bottom.

Eastgate is such a terrible design. The height is fine but I even prefere Beetham to it, and thats saying something. I do prefere criterion in Leeds to any of them. When (if) that is built, I think it will put any building in the UK to shame.

La Lumiere... isn't that the one that won that design competition a couple of years bacK (sorry, I'm not really keeping up that much with other cities' projects)?

If so... it's bloody changed a bit hasn't it?! I thought it was a slender pair of towers that had the impression of leaning away from each other?!

How can you win a design competition, then radically alter the design?!

No, that's Criterion Place.

This is Lumiere

Still a jaunty twin tower Simpson scheme, with a funky winter garden joining the 2 towers

It is a slender pair of towers leaning away from each other, but the image only shows the taller of the two towers.

I think i'll have to go with the majority. La Lumiere is stunning.

I gave Lumiere the final vote, but V came second. Eastgate is another PlayStation 2 wannabe. What is it with Manchester and these huge monolithic lego blocks? Fair play in terms of height, but where's the creativity? A five year old with Duplo could have designed that... (awaits invetiable enraged onslaught...)

My vote goes to the stunning Lumiere closely followed by V

Eastgate is also too uninspiring for me

Lumiere followed closely by Eastgate with V dragging its heels to eventually lose its energy and finish 23m from the finishing line.

Lumiere for me

Then V

Then Eastgate.

Not to say Eastgate is last - just 3rd (as I like it, but want to see more detail)

Any other pictures of Lumiere? Had a quick look on Lumiere thread, but can't find many. From that picture above, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm not a Simpson fan though to be honest.

Don't get me wrong, it looks alright, and I certainly wouldn't complain if it was proposed locally, but just looks a bit.... Simpsony... bland... dull even. Nah, not dull, but not stunning.

Uninspiring... that's the word
