Nice photos, though the quality could have been better.

I love Paris though, and I love the French people's class, you can easily tell which lot are tourists!

I don't know why it took so long before a Paris Metro thread was made though.

No There was not a lot of tourist here because I was not in the tourist districts. I saw only three blond americans the 14th picture.

That's who I was on about!

Tourists always do this: they either push on if they're European, or they stand near the door and get in everyones way without realising it, if they're American/Australian, the American/Australians then look around trying to find a seat, and then they spend the rest of the time staring at people, a lot of the time they don't sit down and just stand around. Latinos tend to be similar to the Europeans, yet they seem to always sing about something or laugh loudly, the Europeans are too 'cool' for that. they usually don't do it in a rude way but just seem interested/freaked out. The Europeans just talk loudly and not really care. Latinos tend to be similar to the Europeans, yet they seem to always sing about something or laugh loudly, the Europeans are too 'cool' for that. The Londoners are always the ones that stare at the ground and not make eye contact, or read a newspaper or a book. And the Londoners ones never talk loudly either...

This is of course all stereotyping, but it's mostly my experience...

Most natives of the city are.

I think it's because they don't want to annoy any nutters or invade anyone's personal space...

Nice pics, PAris's metro is definately up there on my list. I liked the old lines which have a lot of character and the modern line 14 was excellent too. While its not the cleanest or most spacious it still has its character which I like. And in combination with the RER its a very good system for getting around.
btw the woman in pic 7 doesnt seem to happy

That puts my essay to shame.

But I can always tell without even listening to them, if you're on the vic it's too loud to hear their accents anyway...

I'm going to Paris sometime at the end of the year, apart from how it looks, what is the Paris Metro like?

The Paris metro is one of my favourite in the world, along with the London Underground.

Like the Tube, it has a lot of history, and like the Tube, this means some stations can look a bit old and dated. But this history is what I love so much about the network.

It differs from the Tube in many ways. The stations are much closer together, and tend to be the type which are wider because they have platforms at either side of the tunnels with both tracks in the middle. There are also some great elevated sections with intricate wrought iron. When I was last there, the ticketing system seemed a lot more dated than London's, but maybe it has an Oyster equivalent by now.

One thing I did notice was far fewer escalators. Not a problem - unless you are lugging your baggage around after arriving, but then many of the stations don't seem as deep as London's.

It is a great network, possibly the densest in the world, and very frequent services. I think you will approve.

Paris is a big city, not really the city of love here. It is like London.
So Paris is big, pollued, crowed, dirty and the weather was bad this afternoon.

He is not the worst, some people listen music with mobile phone, but without ear-phone.

It's like London, though people are different in different cities, Americans tend to be brash yet welcoming, Japanese are really polite and courteous but Parisians seem to have a reputation for being rude! I'm not going to judge until I see it, but I don't want the Parisians to hate me!

It's mostly youths, though there was American woman on the tube who was doing it, playing bloody Justin Timberlake...

I agree, they are very friendly. The last time I've visited the underground was with Christmas. If someone step in to a metrocar who was old, pregnant or disabled, everybody stood up to give them their seat. The only thing about the Paris people is that they can't speak English. They do try to help you. Only the Paris Student and Youth speak English.
