The Best of Indian Aviation - photos by Vishal Jolapara

Over the years I have been priviledged enough to marvel at some astonishing sights, here is my way of bringing it to you.

1. My Photo Gallery on MyAviation.net

2. My Photo Gallery on JetPhotos.net

3. My Photo Gallery on Airliners.net

MyAviation.net gallery offers seamless freedom & flexibility in terms of uploading & so you will find some of my best shots & sequential shots there.
The best way & in my opinion the only way of browsing/navigating through the photos on MyAviation.net gallery is by clicking either of these two links as that will make the photos appear in a chronological order. I have painstakingly uploaded each & every photo in that exact order to ensure maximum viewing pleasure.
So this way you will be able to see the entire journey of an airplane right from it arrival (landing), docking in at the aerobridges, taxing, line-up & take-offs and much more.
Hope you all enjoy viewing them just as much as i have enjoyed clicking & witnessing it all in person.
Cheers.

I can certainly put up some interesting ones for u guys if u want, here are two striking comparisons.

AIRPORTS & THE SUPPORTING/SURROUNDING INFRASTRUCTURE.

Domestic Terminal - New Delhi (DEL/VIDP)

MDLR Airlines Ticketing Counter - New Delhi (DEL/VIDP)

Heading, Runway 10/28 - New Delhi (DEL/VIDP) NOTICE AIRBUS A380 F-WWJB JUST LEFT OF THE CENTRE.

Heading, Runway 10/28 (left) - Runway 09/27 (right) - New Delhi (DEL/VIDP)

ALS - Approach Lighting System, Runway 10/28 - New Delhi (DEL/VIDP)

These photos are from my brief visit to the Capital in May 2007, whereas there are lots of Mumbai Airport's in my MyAviation.net gallery here are a few of my favorites :

These 5 photos are clicked on the very same day & within a span of 30 Minutes if you can believe that !! Clicked at 5:24am, 5:24am, 5:40am, 5:41am & 5:46am respectively as Dawn breaks over Mumbai Airport & just then the rain-clouds move in, which made me run for cover

Now as the rain passed & the sunrays began penetrating the morning sky this is what it left me with

My Favorite :

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice the Rising Sun's Rays' Reflecting on the A310's Body (AI VT-EVX "Luni") in the first & the Beautiful Mosaic of the Sky in the second image

Same here with Air India Boeing 747-437 VT-ESP "Ajanta"

Not that simple as u think, lots of politics involved in it, i've been trying since the last 1 1/2 years but they give some crap reason or the other, understable at times as i didnt put a lotta effort in editing most of my MyAviation.net photos as there were just so many of them to upload however when it came to uploading them at Airliners.net it was a different story alltogether, i used to put in hours editing them but they'd come up with some nonsense reason or the other to reject them.

Now on the flip side, www.JetPhotos.net which is actually listed as # 1 in the Top 100 Aviation Websites started accepting most of my photos from day 1 (I uploaded my first photo on JetPhotos.net actually quite late on 1st July 2007 as i thought that if they were not accepted at Airliners.net, what chance did i have at JP, turn out from that day on i've had about a 20% accept ratio against the photos that I started uploading (which is just about 3 1/2 weeks ago onwards ). And by around this time i brought a new editing software which greatly helped so, there we go.................

Also check out this thread, AIRPORTS & THE SUPPORTING/SURROUNDING INFRASTRUCTURE.

Sure, i'd love to but then there are 3 spotting expeditions that i have to edit which is 834 photos to be precise & i gotta cherry pick the best ones & then edit them. Now i can do all that only once i get the time which is on my weekly off from work so, i'd probably rather put up the thumbnails with the links here it'd be as good as uploading the pics here.

By the way, I wonder how many of you guys have seen this yet so for those who havent seen it yet, here is MDLR Airlines BAE Systems Avro 146-RJ70 VT-MDL
it was my first sighting of this beauty on my brief trip to DEL.

Here's one more interesting one from the archive, Airbus A380 F-WWJB Arriving at Mumbai BOM/VABB on India, May 9, 2007, I missed the intial arrival at BOM on the 8th of May as i was just returning from DEL after catching its initial arrival in India (which i just missed by a few minutes but it caught it taxing on the tarmac & parking)
all these and a lot more photos of the A380 in India u'll find there alongside.

Here's the Farewell, SEE THE PHOTO CAREFULLY, THE A380 IS BEING GIVEN AN ESCORT RIGHT UP TILL THE END OF THE TAXIWAY AS (unfortunately for us) THE A380 TOOK A 90° RIGHT TURN & ENTERED RUNWAY 27 VIA TAXIWAY "HOTEL" INSTEAD OF A4 (got some great shots of it while it went on a 1 hr exhibition flight on the afternoon of May 9th, 2007 via A4).

Vishal

Commendations on your fantastic work on modern Indian aviation photographical documentation. Hats off to you and your polarised filters !

On a lighter note, you sure seem to have all the Dadas of the slums in your favor, to give you such fantastic vantage points.

Cheers

Ha ha ha.............. not really mate, actually I never mess with them & being most polite when questioned or talked to has resulted in a healthy recognition & as surprising as it may sound - hospitality !!!
All the times i used to go there we had to stand all the while & that was for hours & hours & hours.........as long as we were there. However, lately when i went there to photograph all the remaining foreign carriers that i haven't photographed yet (Qantas, Thai Airways & Malaysia Airlines) midnight the locals were quite helpful & offered me chairs, water & so on........ I could only accept the chair !!!!!

Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards.....
