Tanaga: Philippine-styled poetry
What is a tanaga?
A Tanaga is a type of Philippine poetry composed of 4 lines, 7 syllables (traditionally) each in the rhyming pattern: AAAA, ABAB,AAAB, ABBA, AABB or in a free verse. A person who writes tanaga is usually called a 'tanagista' Like a Japanese Haiku, a tanaga can be of any topic and it usually speaks for itself. A tanaga was originally done in Tagalog but it can be done in many languages. Here are mines enjoy ![]() LOVE The sweetest pair of dove Filling the air with love Trying to make my heart Land in yours like a dart NIGHTMARE Someone giving me cold stares As I run down spiral stairs I say all of my prayers Soul awakens such nightmares! PLACE Landscape beauty, paint my eyes! Colors of natural dyes Of greens under the blue skies And each bird and bee that flies UNDECIDED The clock clicking and ticking The moment lost is mocking Confusion keeps me going On a forked road approaching HAPPY MOMENT Intrinsic value of time Thereto should have shared with thee. Memories that have made mime In my heart a revelry Let's share our own tanagas in this thread. Remember, it can be everything!!

Aso Mataas sa pag-upo, Mababa 'pag tumayo. Kaibigan kong ginto, Karamay at kalaro. Pusa Matanda na ang nuno, Hindi pa naliligo. Sa tubig nagtatago, Tinik ang sinusuyo.

@ Tigi- Wala ako maisip na ma rhyme with -ig at the end, so ur my life saver. The tanaga is not only intended for you but with the forumers of SSC kaya nga SSC ang title.
