Madurai region thread can represent south TN (When Trinelveli or Tuticorin projects shoots up we can split south TN into further divisions) Trichy region thread can represent middle eastern TN and Coimbatore can represent middle western TN. |

When we are starting threads for specific cities it will be good to focus on that particular city only. Of course sattellite towns or smaller towns located near that city will be a part of the thread. This will make the quality of the thread much better by bringing out more city specific infrastructure issues and projects. For development in all other towns and small cities we have TN economy and infrastructure thread.
@Maduraiselvam-Its important to stick to projects and not make this into a news thread or a human resource thread. There is a thread on education - under infrastructure and economy for such post on universities and any genral discussion in chaibar. I am just saying this because having posts organized brings out the best in the city. Last edited by WillyWick; August 18th, 2006 at 11:28 PM. |

In some cases like developing cities like Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy there arent as much projects that Metros are getting. Then the development of these areas would depend on the development in other sectors, not just buildings and infrastructure related projects. The term PROJECT doesnt mean buildings and bridges, rather it include ecomomical and developmental projects. We definitely know what we are doing, and also know to highlight the best of the city and we are doing it; thanks for you advice. How is that anything other than Chennai project gonna be called as TN development? I think i am one of the bigger contributor for TN infrastructure thread as well. Come out to down south and see how things are working, depend and grow around a major city. For instance project thread for Trichy and Madurai region thread was successful and forumer contributed a lot and now they realise that they have more to say about their own region. Now it has become two seperate threads and this will happen again for Madurai thread when other bigger cities in south wants to draw its attention. This is how one can project a city in the first hand, enabling it to stand on its own later with better developments. Last edited by MaduraiSelvam; August 19th, 2006 at 02:00 PM. |

For Madurai Selvam
Ur observation _______________________________________-- Sorry I had to write this is in public instead of a private message. In some cases like developing cities like Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy there arent as much projects that Metros are getting.____________________ You can include Madurai and Trichy in that category, but in Coimbatore topic, discussion is going only on Coimbatore and not on Pollachi, Mettupalaiyam, Ooty etc etc.,

Proposal to bring 500 hectares of wasteland under jatropha cultivation
Through District Watershed Development Agency programme to extract bio-diesel TIRUCHI: The Agriculture Department has proposed to cover 500 hectares of wasteland under jatropha plantation in the district through the District Watershed Development Agency (DWDA) programme. The objective of the programme is to promote jatropha plantation for the extraction of bio-diesel to reduce foreign exchange through the import of crude oil. It would also develop the wasteland for agrarian purpose, Joint Director of Agriculture (in-charge) V. Rethinavelu said. He was speaking at a function to inaugurate the training programme on jatropha cultivation at Ulundankudi village near Manachanallur on Friday. Explaining the other advantages of jatropha, he said that the organic matter of the soil would get enriched and soil erosion would be checked. Free from grazing by the livestock, jatropha was also resistant to pest attack. It would generate employment with job opportunities round the year. It would also protect the environment as it is free from pollutants, particularly sulphur or benzene in the smoke. Referring to the salient features of bio-diesel, Mr. Rethinavelu said the unused hydrocarbons were very less and there was no residue in the engine and silencer. Returns from jatropha can be had from the second or third year of planting. As a temporary measure, inter-cropping can be resorted to by raising vegetables, pulses etc., during that period. The yield from jatropha would last for about three decades, he said. The officers from Lalgudi Farmers Training Centre, Elangovan, Mariaravi Jeyakumar and former assistant director, M. Jayaraman, who were the resource persons, gave tips on cultivation and harvest techniques. The members of the DWDA and local farmers participated in the programme. http://www.hindu.com/2006/08/19/stor...1924770300.htm |

If I remember correctly, bypasses are planned at these places. Anyways, there won't be scope for four laning in many of those towns, I guess. So, naturally four laning will have bypasses as they will aim to avoid traffic hassles. |

The policy will comprehensively cover all sectors of the IT industry
Plans to set up IT parks in Madurai, Tiruchi, Salem and Tirunelveli Separate policy for IT hardware manufacturing, biotechnology CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu will soon get new industrial and information technology policies and revive the IT task force, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who also holds the IT portfolio, told the Assembly on Wednesday. The State Government has decided to formulate the new IT policy with a view to consolidate the gains made so far and propel the industry into a higher growth trajectory. The policy would comprehensively cover all sectors of the IT industry. A separate policy for IT hardware manufacturing and biotechnology would also be formulated. The IT task force would have representatives of the IT industry and the objective behind constituting it was to identify the infrastructure requirements. Replying to the debate on the demand for grants to the IT Department, the Chief Minister said there were plans to establish information technology parks in Madurai, Tiruchi, Salem and Tirunelveli. The decision to set up IT parks in other cities, he explained, was taken with the objective of spreading the IT revolution that at present was concentrated around Chennai. According to Mr. Karunanidhi, a second Tidel Park will be set up at Taramani in Chennai. The State Government in association with the Software Technology Parks of India would also establish an IT park in Coimbatore. The State Government, the Chief Minister said, would provide exemption from the general and central sales tax "without any limit" on the sale of computers manufactured by companies with an investment exceeding Rs.100 crore in the SEZs in Tamil Nadu. This concession would be given for 10 years from the commencement of commercial production. The announcement comes in the wake of the Budget speech in which the Finance Minister said special concessions would be granted to companies setting up computer manufacturing facilities in the State. The incentives are for increasing the use of computers and making them affordable. The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, a national centre of excellence announced by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry, is to be located in Chennai. Noting that the first phase of the IT Expressway project, to develop six lane road between Taramani and Siruseri, at a cost of Rs.205 crore was progressing, Mr. Karunanidhi said in the next phase similar work would be initiated over 25 km from Siruseri to Mahabalipuram. http://www.hindu.com/2006/08/24/stor...2406350400.htm |
