Universities play a very important role in our economy, infrastructure and our way of life. I think we need a separate thread just for Universities and other Educational Institutes of India

Lets post our universities in this thread. I will start with my Alma mater "Mandsaur Institute of Technology"

Sweet! That looks nothing like the kind of university campuses that we are so accustomed to seeing in India. If it weren't for the caption and those vehicles in the picture, I would never have guessed right.

This is a lovely picture. Other institutes that have similar well-maintained classical buildings, comparable to the best around the world are

1. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
2. Indian Military Academy, Dehradun
3. National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla (near Pune)
4. Defence Services Staff College, Wellington (near Ooty, TN)

For two years i lived in Indore and used to see IIM under construction on a hill top daily 2 times while going and coming back from my company in sagore.

This is my Alma Mater. Harcourt Butler Technical Institute, Kanpur. After 100 years of its establishment it is one of the oldest engineering institutes in India.

The one below was how it was when I studied there in 2002. The above pic is a recent one. It doesn't matter much, all the department buildings look alike giving you a feel of the colonial architecture.

I too got confused when i first saw it..
also looks like teh kid bunked the class to take the pic... u dont see anyone else in the campus which is pretty unusual for an Indian campus too

What's wrong with the campus? It has one of the biggest university and most beautiful campus india. This one is just an administrative building. Thomson college of enginerring (later Roorkee University) was one of the oldest engineering college in india.

ISB to go for joint partnership with foreign varsities

Hyderabad: Indian School of Business (ISB) - Hyderabad, the top-ranked Asian Business School is planning to make partnership with a number of foreign universities in the areas of joint research and curriculum development. The premier B-School has proposed to sign agreements with premier institutions in Brazil, Russia and China, also with Cornell University and Columbia University in New York.

The partnership with institutions in Brazil, Russia and China is expected to generate new courses that will help executives tap business opportunities in these countries. The two elite institutions in New York - Cornell University and Columbia University would help in research and curriculum development and in developing a rating system for transnational corporates.

"The goal of our tie-up with institutes in Brazil, Russia and China is to develop a programme for those who are entering BRIC (Brazil, Russia, China and India) countries to start their operations. It will also help train executives in an existing organization and generate more business opportunities," said ISB dean M Rammohan Rao.

The B-school has so far signed agreements with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the London Business School (LBS) Kellogg, Wharton for academic cooperation and research.
