DUBAI | Dubai Pearl | 300m | 984ft | 73 fl | U/C
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This project was announced back in 2002 with a different design. Now the old resign has been replaced with the new design having 3 times more space. This also switched developers since they even started construction on the old design but was stalled and now they'll have to demolish what's there. Here's are a few renders of the new one, as you can see it's absolutely massive and monolithic. Looks like it'll be somewhere between 250m and 300m high. You can really see the size of this thing by going to the website and watching that little video: www.dubaipearl.ae A quote from someone who invested in this project explaining the change of ownership: Quote:
More stuff: Quote:
The site: ![]() I don't know the exact story of what happened here. Maybe someone else can explain better Last edited by kanye; August 27th, 2012 at 12:41 AM. |

IMO i think that this one will trun out much better than we can expect it now from renders.....it looks very futuristic......but would look much better without the "roof"!
btw thx malec for openning the thread!

this looks like a copy of the second winner of the design competition for the new european central bank hq in frankfurt by albert speer and partner. who is the architect?
![]() this picture shows the design after the revision phase. before it looked exactly like the project in dubai.

Another unbelievable project for Dubai. Why build for classic skyscrapers, when you can have one with even more space? You have to accept that it would look more like a wall than a tower though.
I bet this would be the broadest highrise in the world, with a "sky base" area of approx. 300x100 meters. Not to think about all those connected low/midrises surrounding the main tower(s). Also the 4 loopholes (2 narrow, 2 wide) would be the tallest worldwide when built, I assume. Walking through them will surely be a great impression. ![]() Only the name doesn't really fit to such a colossal and cold looking design. By the name 'Pearl' I'd expect an exclusive, charming, maybe even a bit kitschy appearance... like Elite Residences or Marina 101. Realisation would be great - but I got to get accustomed to this one, to love the Pearl as planned.

I don't know... The roof looks a bit weird. Nevertheless, it's prolly going to look better when done.

Its's a nice tower, but totally missplaced! In a centerpiece such as the plot of Pearl, there should be something that really stands out, multiple towers where the highest tower stands out in the middle!

I like this, it has an out of place look to it. But I think that makes it better, and what a trip it would be to work in one of the skybridge offices.
