God the place has changed so much since the last time I was up there, and that was only 4 years ago. The hillsides look like nowhere else in Australia as far as I can tell, carperted with luxury villas like that. Also I don't remember the water looking such a beautiful shade of ocean blue. Great shots!

One of word warning though, the public pool is commonly known as the 'Sperm Bank' after dark... If you think you need an explanation, don't ask

Lovely pics, I had a great night out there a few years ago whilst doing a driving tour up to Cairns.

i was up there at new years as well. beautiful part of the world.

only a week after new years, airlie was cut off from proserpine by flood waters and the airport was shut down. 400mm fell on the town. great timing for us i guess. sunny and 33 every day.

amazing. those hillside apartments r great, look really good!
and omg the water! such pritty clear safe looking color. looks like a really exotic place!

i was there on New Years in 06/07, it was pretty good, one of the best i have had so far.

looks a nice place, whereabouts is it, near Cairns or Townsvillle or somewhere else. Ive never been north of sunshine coast

its at the Whitsundays, its advertised as 'the gateway to the whitsundays'.. There are ferries and cruises leaving constantly from the harbour down the road.

though in the past few years, it has developed into its own tourist attraction, its south of Townsville and around 10 hours from Brisbane.

Airlie Beach is a fantastic place. Best way to get there is to catch a plane to Proserpine and then a bus to Airlie which takes about 45min. Plenty to do, great fishing, cruising around the islands, swimming, partying etc. There is a ferry service to Daydream & Hamilton Islands from Shute Harbour just down the road from Airlie and they make great day trips.

Mackay is the nearest Major city.

Its changed a lot since I last saw it.

Prosopine is closer to Townsville whilst Airlie picks up Townsville radio stations not mackays so maybe Townsville is closer? Anyway my sister was there from new years aswell lol her and her mates were kicked out of the backpackers, Its a super place really I think from north of Mackay north to cairns has Australias prime beaches!

townsville is almost 100km further away from Airlie then Mackay is..

250km Townsville - Proserpine
120km Mackay -Proserpine
25km Proserpine - Airlie Beach

you must have being thinking of Bowen or Ayr.

yeah, stupid jelly fish...

when i stayed there we used to catch ferries out to some of the whitsunday islands, sit on the beach drinking cocktails and then go back to Airlie in the afternoon, have a little nap and get back up and go to one of the pubs/clubs for dinner.

head over to Hayman Island for a day, you can catch the ferry from Shute Harbour just down the road from Airlie Beach.

Its a big resort island, there is plenty of shops and resturans, and the resorts have nice big pools(some with bars). If you go over, you should try to book a golf buggy(there the only vehicles on the island), or you can catch the courtesy bus.

TOCC are you talking about Hamilton Island not Hayman?

If you go to Hamilton make sure you buy some prawns and beer and head up to One Tree Hill, its got some magnificent views over all the surrounding islands. There's a few good fishing trips from Airlie as well, and a good drinking hole is Magnums.

Hamilton Island is also home to Hamilton Towers, among the tallest in Nth. Qld in I recall right.
