Czech education system is supposed to be about 10-15th best in the world according to OECD (I'd have to find the source again, I read it some time ago).

Commuting in the average CE city is peanuts compared to North American or Australian cities. Everything is compact and they have proper civilised public transport systems.

We have been in a minus slope since early 90s! The recent small population growth of the country is caused by immigration. The fertility rate is one of the lowest in the world, and I am not sure if even not the lowest (under 1.15 kids per mother I think).

1. 20 Countries Have Negative or Zero Natural Increase

The latest data from the Population Reference Bureau shows that there are twenty countries in the world with negative or zero natural population growth. This is unprecedented in history!

This negative or zero natural population growth means that these countries have more deaths than births or an even number of deaths and births; this figure does not include the impacts of immigration or emigration. Even including immigration over emigration, only one of the twenty countries (Austria) is expected to grow between 2006 and 2050.

The country with the highest decrease in the natural birth rate is Ukraine, with a natural decrease of 0.8% each year. Ukraine is expected to lose 28% of their population between now and 2050 (from 46.8 million now to 33.4 million in 2050). Russia and Belarus follow close behind at a 0.6% natural decrease and Russia will lose 22% of their population by 2050 – that is a loss of more than 30 million people (from 142.3 million today to 110.3 million in 2050).

Japan is the only non-European country in the list and it has a 0% natural birth increase and is expected to lose 21% of its population by 2050 (shrinking from 127.8 million to a mere 100.6 million in 2050). TFR grew to 1.44 last year, but this should only be a temporarily effect of the strong cohorts of Husák's children of the 1970s. Nevertheless, we have experienced the highest growth since 1950s last year with a total increase of nearly 100,000 souls, 80% of this thanks to immigration.

I agree. On an other hand it is really sad to realize that the European race is depopulated Especially in Ukraine
Yes, thos people just not only respect local traditions, culture and of course the religion. They want to force people accept their sometimes totally different foreign religion and lifestyle.

Immigrance... Most of the immigrants are from Ukraine and some others from former Soviet Union (and Vietnam). If they find a job and do unattractive work in factories and constructions, I don t mind. We need them, because the new Czech generation won t work manually any more. And Ukrainians are far more closer in matter of culture and language than let say Pakistanies or Egyptians. As you can see, people from not Christian countries prefer to choose another countries, like France, Sweden. Why they have to work if could be just make a lot of children and because of a perfect social welfare system spend benefits given from a local goverment.

As you can see, not being immigrants we would be in serious demographic slump nowadays. But this inflow will not last forever and our born/death rate will be soon <1 again...
But our planet is overcrowded after all so I think this trend is not that bad...

Our demographic crisis is not that much about the natural population decline but the forthcoming rapid aging. Who will feed the army of Czech retirees which is to form 1/3 of the population by 2050? Our illustrious political leaders are obviously unable to come up with some reasonable reform of pensions.

Prague- Czechs are far more tolerant of foreigners coming from western countries than of those coming from the East, and they show the lowest tolerance for Romanies, according to a poll the STEM agency conducted in April and released said.

Only 12 percent of adult Czech respondents said they would easily accept Romanies as their neighbours, while more than one third said the idea of living next to Romanies is unacceptable to them.

The Czechs have the best relation to Slovaks, the poll has shown.

Asked who they would consider acceptable as their neighbours, most of the respondents named Slovaks, Westerners and Jews.

Almost one quarter of them said living next to Romanies would be unpleasant to them, three in ten said such situation would be difficult to cope with and 36 percent called it absolutely unacceptable.

Only 12 percent said they saw no problem in living next to Romanies.

Ninety-two percent of those polled had nothing against the idea of Slovaks being their neighbours.

Almost four-fifths see no problem in living next to Britons, three-quarters said they would have no problem with the French or Americans, two-thirds said the same about Germans and Jews.

About a half of the respondents said they would not mind Kazakh or Volhynian Czechs as their neighbours, while one-third said living next to these people would be unpleasant to them.

A total of 85 percent of respondents said it would be unpleasant to them, would hardly cope with it or would consider it unacceptable if they lived next to Afghans or Chechens.

Eight in ten Czechs would mind being the neighbours of Arabs. Three-quarters would mind Ukrainians, the Chinese and Vietnamese as neighbours, the poll showed.

"The differences ensue from the [different] geographical and cultural closeness of Czechs to members of various nations and ethnic groups, and also from the historical as well as quite recent experience the Czechs have with them," STEM analysts said.

They said the Czechs widely view Ukrainians, Russians and Vietnamese as a cheap workforce and obscure peddlers forming their own closed communities.

As far as Arabs, Chechens and Afghans are concerned, many Czechs link fears of terrorism with them, STEM found out.

A half of those polled said they believed Czechs approach foreigners without prejudices, while the other half said they doubt this.

The number of foreigners in the 10-million Czech Republic has been increasing. A total of 402,320 legally lived in the country at the end of March.
