Stadium of the year 2008

SSC Stadium of the year 2009, aims to acknowledge and appreciate the best in stadium design this year, across the world.

There are two categories in which a stadium can be nominated:
A. A stadium of capacity >40,000 seats completed in the year 2008
B. A stadium of capacity <40,000 seats completed in the year 2008.

Completed, implies that stadium construction and overlay e.g. completion of suites/sound systems, are BOTH complete. Ideally, the stadium would have hosted its first test event in 2008 or before 31 December 2008.

Nominations will take place during the next week or two.
A nomination should be listed as follows.

Stadium Name/Title:
Club:
City:
Country:
Image: ONE image of the stadium exterior and ONE image of the stadium interior.
Images must be of a reasonable size

Links: Links to a MAXIMUM of five other sources where more information can be found regarding the design.
Capacity:
Architect(s):

Any one forumer may nominate only ONE stadium in each category.

Depending on the entries/nominations, a shortlist will take place carried out Mo Rush, Sercan and Michal.

The final decision will be a public vote carried out in the same manner as the IOC vote.

IMO this thread had better focus on football specific stadiums - I mean the kind of sport fields which has no tracks around the pitch and are designed primarily for association football. Regarding arenas or other kinds of sporting venues, you'd better create another thread.

Mo Rush, you said a shortlist of the nominees but IMO we might not need it because there are only a few football specific stadiums which opened within the year - As far as I know just 4-5 or so? Anyway it is certain that the number of the nominees won't go beyond 10

Maribor has a beautiful stsdium. It's the best and the most modern stadium in region of former Yugoslavia. But it still isn't finished, it's full capacity will be 13.000. Inside the stands will be other sport halls.

I thought it was any stadium - I think only Carrera has stipulated football specific (after Mo Rush set the thread in motion).

I'll second Sercan's National Stadium vote for the over 40k catagory. Can't see how it can be beaten.

I thought it was SkyScraperCity.

The initial post talks of stadiums not football/soccer stadiums.
