Post Your Pet Pic's
I'm sure there is probably already a thread on this but I couldn't find it :S mod can merge if there is another already...
I think it should be seperate tho from cul's 'animal's in your yard tho, cause i think he's meaning just random crazy animals rather then our precious furry things ![]() anyhoo, here's a couple of pics i took this morning (fabulous bris autumn sunday morning btw), -> sharon and darren, labradoodle and spoodle. They're about to turn 2. ![]() ![]()

Yeah I remember that pic back when i was scrolling through the old pics of ppl on here,
your black labrador almost looks the same as the mat/bed.... u gotta love those puppy dog eyes... ![]() I've got a kitten im looking after atm, and am thinking about getting a golden retriver puppy, but not too sure if they'll get along or not? .. I guess they can be best of mates when they're young rather than introducing each other when they're older... i don't really like cats, but this one im looking after is a real friendly, russian blue, she doesn't meow much and stays indoors 95% of the time. |

It takes a lot of time and effort to rehabilitate unwanted and abused pets, particularly birds who are usually bought as pretty things and the owners have no way of knowing how to care or look after them, one bite or screaming fit and off they go to a shelter or worse let loose. They fail to realise that what they have is a little kid that will grow up with the intelligence of a 5 year adult or more. Managing their personalities is real piece of work! The last two birds you will see in the next photo's came from a so-called reputable pet store in the city of Melbourne. My partner (who is very understanding and is now a champion in bird rescue) rescued the last two Peach Faced African parrots in the photo. They were in squalid conditions, unhealthy, had no food or water and were described as sick and not for sale. God love my husband he insisted on taking them (they wanted to charge him regardles) and getting them some new housing. After two weeks they have perked up, eating all the right food and our avian vet checked them out and said that they were doing extremely well. And what do I get out of it all? The rewards of turning a very sad animal into a very happy individual that has been taught right from wrong, how to show affection and the ability to trust humans again. The birds I deal with will never be allowed back in the wild, so finding them new homes with people I know I can trust is the most important thing. Handing them over is tough though as you build such friendships and bonds it's incredible. Anyhow, please don't take on any aussie native birds as pets unless you have full time attention for them. And make sure if you do, to please research their food requirements, temperaments and basic handling. If I could I would stop the entire hand reared bird trade and those pet stores that have puppies and kittens in those glass boxes for people to look at and go *how cute*. The saddest thing is how many of these pet stores flog off puppies, kittens, birds and rabbits, but never follow up. Anyhow thats my rant. If anyone is interested, I do have a couple of birds that need homes. Contact me via PM if you are interested, they have all been retrained and are calm and responsive to human contact. Warm regards, mx |

All of my current birds are *hand me ins* and I work closely with them. Never underestimate a parrots intelligence! And I have had a few stampy episodes with Zilla, where he drags his barbie doll around and house and steals knickers. LOL Cheers, mx |
